Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I thought that the concrete base would have been a bit more thicker to support a coaster, but now the diggers can dig even more! YAY! (Thanks for the part confusing corrections earlier guys! (I'm trying not to sound sarcastic!)) I see how it would be part of the old queline, seems the right hight &a...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

No, I'm referring to the box right by the three remining supports of the Black Hole. I think it was the Black Hole car maintenance shed. I think it used to have some track leading into it which gets into it via the use of switching track sections, like track that moves side to side near the end of ...

I agree, but I think it's going to look much bigger after ground works, but only time will tell! (I'm going to get some photos in august, hopefuly some degree of site work will have started then.)

Despite how funny your observation is, I can't help but wonder why you're even looking down there?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

If those were the sheds on the site still where they are then they could probably be making room for part of the station or theme pieces, or just some general cleanup like what nemesismad said earlier. :)

When you get in a lift, sit down in the corner, look at the others & say: “Quick, sit before you fall into the Sub-Terra with Nemesis! NOOOOW!”

Re: Why is the whole of X-Sector closed?

Hi, my sister & her boyfriend went to AT today, they said oblivion was closed due to someone mucking foolishley about the oblivion hole. (She said they died but I chose not to belive her.) Then they & dozens of others were told to leave the oblivion que-line & go have fun elsewhere or so...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Looks weird, seems like they took the entrance down, that & half of the tent!  Wonder if we'll be seeing the tent pop up some place else in the future.

Re: why do you love Alton Towers?

I love alton towers because of the towers. AND the rides for that matter, plus, its the only place with a good view of the riders where I can get a painfully embarrasing picture of my sister on oblivion! Embarising to her, that is. ;)

Re: Flamingo Land 2012

Can't believe our schools 'reward trip' is to Flamingo Land  :x Personally I wouldn't mind the extra 12 quid and another 5 minutes on the coach to get to Alton  On our school rewards trips, we went to lightwater valley one year, flamingo land the next 2, then not one at all, & n...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Flamingoland have an empty space where their corkscrew used to live! If they get a new ride, like a flat, AT might sell it to them, but then again the tent is old. But if I were demolishing the BH tent, if intended for scrapping, I'd stratigicaly place small explosive charges in key places, set them...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I wonder what types of splendiferous machinery we'll see throughout the year during SW7s construction.  :?

(I'm into technical things and how its built sort of things.) :O

I also wonder what we'll see being moved around, like all the things stored in it...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I mean that the track layout of the SW7 version has it that the station is at the side of the coaster rather than one end, & to sort out any other future confusion, the track seems shortened & more compact to fit the available space. Sorry if I caused any confusion! (It is annoying when some...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

If you go to gerstlauers web site and click on eurofighters and then go to existing rides and click on tashikeba or how ever you spell it, then click on technical data it shows the whole track layout including in the station section. Hope this helps. Not good with links sorry. http://img94.imagesha...

Re: The Black Hole Tents Future... (2012 Onwards.)

I don't think it's a tent you can really 'put up' and 'take down' it's more of a fixed structure than anything. Of course you can, all's you need is a solid concrete base. It can be disassembled and reassembled anywhere you want with a certain amount of ground preparation. Think of it more as a she...

Re: The Black Hole Tents Future... (2012 Onwards.)

The ride was installed in Sweden last year called Rocket @ Furuvik Quote RCDB The Rocket was refurbished by Gerstlauer prior to coming to Furuvik. I know, the new paint job looks like that of Sonic Spinball, wonder if its any smoother. (It will be, the folks at Gerstlauer would know how to fix it u...

Re: The Black Hole Tents Future... (2012 Onwards.)

suppose the canvas is replaced with the same material the roof of Cariba Creek is made from, and then used as an extension to the waterpark. that would be awesome 8) MORE SLIDES!!! And water for that matter. (Like a helix type slide form the tallest part to a "wet-run" and SPLASH!)  :P

The Black Hole Tents Future... (2012 Onwards.)

Hello! Question is, what do you think will happen to the Black Hole Tent? Sell it perhaps? Re-use it in the future? Or something else?  :| Personally, I think it'll be used for Scare-Fests or Special Events, or a new storage area/maintenance area.  :) What do you think?  :? EDIT: By s...
