Re: Project Fear - Sheffield (Contains Spoilers)

This sounds like a right load of lazy, 4chan ****e. No doubt I'd find it massively unpleasant but that squirty cream line is one of the stupidest things I've ever read in theatre. Yeah, child abuse if frightening, but what of it? It's easy to be shocking, sure, much harder to be provocative or intim...

Re: Th13teen trimmed yet again?

The negative G reasoning stated by Wardley is correct, but I've also heard in the past that a test dummy flew out during the test period. Intamin offered Alton the opportunity of installing ratchet-lead restraints (2, 3, 4 clicks, etc.), but the additional cost was upwards of £100,000.

Re: The London 2012 Olympics Discussion

I couldn't give a stuff for the Olympics but it is nice to have our country in the limelight for a change. What has to be remembered is when we won the bid there was plenty of money before Liebour spent it all on the public sector. The problem with socialists is they don't understand hard work, I h...

Re: Is the Recession Hitting Towers Hard?

Thing is, you say all that but If I for example, use Parc Asterix, they charge 44 euros on the gate to get in, charge 8 euros for their car park, charge 8 euros minimum for a meal on park (as well as the fuel costs) and yet thats a park thats seen their park attendence grow (pre Oz'Iris). It can't ...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

Including the operative who beckons you out of the left, four or five. Two behind the cages, and two who sort of block the path. They're not particularly agressive though. I'm not a scare maze fan, and it scared me just the right amount.

Re: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Discussion

I actually think that whilst the values of the monarchy may be fundamentally disagreeable, at least to myself and many others, once Charles and Camilla are gone and William and Kate are in the throne, they'll probably represent a different, slightly less stuffy institution than what we see today.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I'm pretty convinced that we're going to see a vertical launch on the ride, from tha very flat section. This also makes it marketable next to Oblivion, as a sort of sequel. That notoriously goes down vertically and quickly, and SW7 will do the opposite.

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

It's scary, but obviously you're in a large group, which dilutes it somewhat, and it's short. If you're not usually into scare mazes, I wouldn't skip Sub-Terra, and I say that as a scaredy cat myself.

I remember seeing a Purple sky with lightning and the rides arms swinging in opesite directions followed by a terrified group of riders, and another shot of the gondolar dipping down and then electric/lightning flying from the electrodes on the ends of the arms and then...Energizer at AltonTowers.....

Re: People smoking marijuana outside the park entrance...

I recently witnessed a group of 10 year old children jump off the Riverbank Eye Spy mid way round and onto the footpath, to which the ride operator announced, "Hiya, lads." They responded in kind with, "Suck my dick." I did sort of wonder what they were doing on it in the first p...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

The park can't be faulted for creating an attraction with a story. I'm not saying Sub-Terra is perfect, far from it, but as somebody who has seen many ham-fisted attempts at 'storytelling' theme park attractions, the ride portion of NST is just great. It's clear what is happening and why. Obviously ...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

In my experience, enough people paid attention to the queue line videos to warrant them being there, and everyone paid attention to the pre-show. All the ending needs is more of an idea of what is going on in terms of quarantine or whatever. Ideally, the final part of the queue line would be a littl...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

Just rode this twice over two days, surpassed my expectations. Some cosmetic work could make the whole thing more believable and intense, especially during the initial portion, but I've no qualms whatsoever with the chamber itself, nor the maze finale, which was disorienting and frightening. They've...
