Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

My friends and I visited Towers yesterday, and we planned to run to the queue of The Smiler at 9am and then join the queue later on in the day just before they close at 5:30pm. After hearing The Smiler was closed in the morning, we decided to go elsewhere in the park. (We went to Thirteen in the hop...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

It seems people have forgotten that Alton Towers don't have to revalidate tickets to nearly every customer who goes to guest services. Especially because only one ride has closen down for the day. Given, the ride is The Smiler and has only opened for 4 days, but there's nothing stopping them from gi...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

If this is in the wrong thread then I do apologise. I'm visiting on the 5th June with my friends and we can spend as long as we like in the park because we're getting dropped off and picked up by parents (luckily). However, we were hoping to sprint to The Smiler at 9am as well as enter the queue aga...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Whats the difference between valleying & stalling? My common sense tells me a stall is when it gets stuck, valleying is when it doesn't make it and then rolls backwards through the track and then forwards again until it eventually rests at its lowest point. (Like a valley) You've answered your ...

Re: The Smiler - Marketing [May Contain Spoilers]

Has anyone got any links so i can watch it, because i stupidly forgot to watch it :p It's not on BBC iPlayer yet, and it looks like it won't be on until 2pm Saturday to be exact. If you look at the information for the last episode of Blue Peter you'll find that it's available until Saturday 18th 1:...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Didn't John Wardley say in an interview that you had to ride The Smiler to find out its other secret element? The game also points to that with the ability to unlock several hidden secrets when the ride opens. All this just points to something on the trains IMO...

http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq133/roodlesnouter/SW7%2007-04-13/DSC_0736_zps15a0b651.jpg I think this angle gives a good indication to what The Smiler will look like due to the fact there are firstly no cranes visible and secondly due to nearly all the track and marmaliser parts being install...

Re: Virtual Queue

Seems very; ⋅ Technical ⋅ Expensive ⋅ Hard to manage ⋅ Waste of time In my opinion, each person should press a button as they go through the ride entrance which is usually manned by a member of staff anyway. This will indicate how many people are in each speci...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Back on the topic of construction, I was wondering why the game doesn't include the second to last inversion before the corner into the brake run. Yet from the most recently released construction photos, it includes does. I've also noticed that the third and fourth inversions that were in the origin...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I actually can not wait for this to open omg. What is the current inversion record for a roller coaster? Because The Smiler will have 14 inversions (which is shown in the mobile app). If this ride is the roller coaster with the most inversions it can be counted as a world-beating AND worlds first ro...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

And Shockwave at Drayton Manor. Left hand side coming into the station at speed you can swing your legs out and hit a gate. Would love to see some photos of construction soon however, if not from MI7 then from the half term opening. There needs to be some sort of development further than what we've ...

Re: Mutiny Bay: New Family Coaster Concept

Love it love it love it. Just what the park needs; a well-themed thrilling family coaster.

I'm sure this would be a star attraction if it ever got built. A good indoor section with a large outside drop, underwater tunnels and an awesome looking launch section.  :D

Re: Do you think Nemesis will always be the no1 coaster at the park?

There's always the possibility, and I do think that within the next 10 or so years there will be major competition, but the Nemesis theming, landscape and legend will be extremely tough to beat.

Re: Stuff you lost in the Oblivion Hole

LOL. 2 hats. I lost 1 hat then bought another. I know it might seem like I'm an idiot but I knew full well I could lose the second hat...The problem is I like to see stuff when I'm riding so I decided to chance the hat as a way of protecting my glasses. They need to sell a chord for peoples glasses...

Re: New Park Entrance?

How about having the new entrance by/replacing the toilets between Gloomy Wood and Forbidden Valley? There's just about enough room to extend it and they could even build paths, customer services, e.t.c, extending into the woods opposite the toilets. I'm sure Towers will be exploring the options ava...
