Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

Personally, I would head to the back of the park and do stealth and Nemesis Inferno first. Most of the crowds go to the Swarm or Saw first so if you do this you will only get 1 ride before having to queue. If you go straight to Stealth you will normally get 2 walk on rides and then a 5-10 minute wai...

Portaventura September 2016

I have just booked a trip to finally get back to PA after last going in 2006 I think it was. Very excited to get on shambhala and baco. We're going from 5th - 9th September and staying at the Portaventura hotel (was the cheapest on site hotel at time of booking) so I know we can buy express passes f...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

the way I believe it moves is this : There are 2 tracks parallel to each other, connected by a turntable at each end. You board the train in the same place you depart. Once boarded, the train moves down the track and ends on the first turntable. Whilst you are in the live action section, the train ...

Yikes... Fast track may have to be done on Monday!

I'm going on Tuesday and hoping that it's only this busy as it's a Saturday. Not sure if I'd wait in a 2 hour queue for it

Is there actually 2 trains? Or do you get back in the same one?

Spoiler: show
as far I'm aware, you get back in the same one, but there is a second train that another group is using

Re: Movie Park Germany

I would assume it's a megacoaster due to them saying it has a height of 45m. I was already planning to go there July next year whilst I'm near but now I'm even more excited

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

Is it actually a 75 minute queue though? I went on Monday and it said 120 - 150 all day and in reality the longest I waited was 25 minutes, and this was due to it stopping for 10 minutes whilst I was in the batching area

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

If all of the bolts are in place joining the two sections then that is how the spine will have been designed. If you look closely at other track section joints throughout the rides there are various points where the spines do not meet cleanly yet the rails do. If the spine was out then the pieces c...

As for the fins, no way are they anti rollback - otherwise they would be on the crest of the lift as well.

Good point, I didn't think of that. Must be something more interesting then xD

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Those fins are confusing me... That looks like an LIM lift hill, but we already have a chain motor  Could it be a new type of anti-rollback system, or maybe it's part of a secret element

Re: The Smiler- Mobile Game Application

Has anybody else noticed something weird about the layouts when you compare the fully unlocked one in the game to the one when you scan the promo image? The promo image one has the 2 dive loops that arent present in the game, and the game has the sea-serpent roll thingy which isn't in the AR model&n...

165 seconds is almost 3 minutes  that's a long time for a rollercoaster. Especially a Merlin one  :P

Re: Fright Nights or Scarefest?

Stealth in the dark is a must do, as is rush. The feeling of speed is magnified in the dark so these two rides are amazing.

Well Th13teen is Intamin and Verbolten is Zierer so that theory is out the window.

It is possible that Gerstlauer have also been working on a drop mechanism, however I highly doubt that one will feature here as they already have th13teen. Why would they want another one one the next coaster?

Re: Twirling Toadstool, never again.

I don't have a problem with chairs swings normally, but I went on a starflyer in Germany earlier in the year, and actually feared for my life. I think it seemed worse aswell because the seats are in pairs, so the chains hold double the weight. Although about halfway through the ride I got used to it...

Re: Thorpe Park 2013: Possible Ride Discussion

maybe even add my idea for a worlds first flying drop tower, i think dropping face first would be an amazing and unique feeling. it gives thorpe a good chance to market detonator again aswell. Nah, I don't like that. The whole point of a drop tower is you are thrown out of your seat. Facing down wo...
