Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

If merlin studios were smart, they would have made sure that effects are easy to fix, so that there isn't an excuse for the effects not to be kept in working order

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

There's been several Smiler adverts today, but it no longer has the "opens 23rd may". Thought it was interesting to see

Plenty of fencing left to do. (photo from 5 mins ago)

There looks to be plenty of work left to do! Why have they not finished the fencing, something they should have been able to do weeks ago when the ride began cycling!

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Well it looks like there's only three trains, so 48 people at once, compared to 64 people at once, which is quite a significant drop. I would expect long queues!

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I'm surprised there's no maximum height limit though. Seems strange considering how close the theming gets to the track

Jeez, the way they're talking, you'd think it fell apart as soon as they turned it on!

Re: Slammer: Staying or going?

I'll miss slammer if it goes. Sure it has something like 40 seats but doesn't eat queues, needs a lot of staff, and has a tendency to not work. But its just so obscure and so bizarre a ride, that its fun. Plus, its the only ride at thorpe where I feel incredibly unsafe, because of the restraints bei...

Re: Strange Coasters

The most terrifying coaster I have ever been on, is this one:

Anyone who has been to duinrell will know what I am talking about. It's almost as horrible as Mad mill.

Re: Thorpe Park 2015 Coaster

I'd prefer something very happy. the track should be rainbow colour, and the trains should be unicorns...

I kid, but something with Grass. even the colour Green is better than Grey.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Just had an idea. People think the vertical lift is going to be launched. Zierer do a vertcial hill launch coaster. Perhaps it could be the world's first multi-manufacture rollercoaster. In other words, the first half of the ride is a Eurofighter and the second half is the Vertical Tower coaster. I...

Re: Disneyland Paris gets $250m for WDS Expansion

It's definitely an interesting idea. however, IMO a DCA-style revamp would cost considerably more for WDS, just because its in a much worse state.

Re: Disneyland Paris gets $250m for WDS Expansion

But, what can they do? for a serious revamp, they will need to rely on money from Disney, and until that happens they can only have new shows etc, with the occasional new ride.

I'm of the opinion that this will get the world record for inversions. probably 12, so my guess is a few corkscrews inside.
