Re: Chessington 2013 General Discussion

second the above comments, it depends massively on what you're looking for....if you want thrills, go to thorpe park, if you want a nice relaxed day out in some extremely well themed areas with some very good rides, then chessington is for you, although it is liable to get busier now due to hallowee...

Re: Chessington 2013 General Discussion

was at the park on thursday, the queue times stated on most the rides were for the most part higher than they actually are...for example, the vampire stated that the queue time was 120 mins, we queued for an hour and ten.....so don't always go by the signs, use your instinct. on the refurbishment fr...

Re: Chessington 1990

To clear things up, all renovation work is being done over the closed season, so november until late march/april...when the park re-opens....the entire park is going to be closed properly this christmas, with only the zoo being open on specific days, so they can do work on the entire park, but mostl...

Re: CWOA could fit RITA in...

you could easily move quantum down to  chessington, it never really has a queue at thorpe, always practically a walk on, and at chessington it'd be a big draw, i remember back in the day queueing for nearly an hour for the magic carpet at chessie, re-theme it as a magic carpet again and what wi...

Re: CWOA could fit RITA in...

personally, would love to see the magic carpet back at chessie, just enough thrill for the teens while not being too extreme for the kids, and purely for nostalgia....would love to see it back.....although i realise... not happening

Re: Chessington 2013, Zufari discussion

have to say, i thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, as it's been said here  before.....it is very cold at the moment....visit the ride on a hot sunny day, and i imagine the entire area will come alive, animals and the look of the ride too......please don't dismiss it based on a few pov vide...

Re: Chessington 2013 General Discussion

so it seems that chessington are getting a £5million upgrade, with certain rides closed for short periods throughout the season (beginning with dragon falls, Peking heights and the runaway minetrain) while i'm sad that this means that i won't be able to do a marathon sesh on dragon falls next week w...

Re: Chessington 2013 Closed Season Updates

so did anyone get any more pictures during half term? very curious as to how the renovations/building of zufari are going....seeing as the park opens soon, i'd hope they're pretty close to finishing up on the work.

Re: Chessington 2013 general discussion

not only are a lot of the big rides undergoing essential maintenance, but they are also working on specific areas of the park, with scaffolding up through a fair amount of transylvania, and other works near the zufari area it'd be unsafe to fully open the park until this work is completed....the par...

Re: Chessington 2013 Closed Season Updates

awesome, really appreciate that.....i'll be going a few times this year myself, always have and will have a soft spot for chessington, still makes me feel like a 8 year old boy the second i walk through the gates.....even at 32 years of age :D so any sprucing up of the park is very welcome to me, es...

Re: Chessington 2013 Closed Season Updates

oh my lord, i remember when it used to look like that, back in the days when it was known as the black forest châteaux.....and the burger meals, all in house stuff....were epic, used to love those.....any further update as to what's happening there? i'd love for transylvania to get a good spruce up....

Re: Ride designer John Wardley to retire

have to say that john is a true inspiration to enthusiasts, always willing to talk about the industry, and extremely likeable as a person. While i'm saddened at the news, if anyone deserves a happy retirement it's john. however the enthusiast in me would love him to once more come back down south an...

Re: Legoland closed due to power failure

i was at chessington on sunday....it was really quiet in the morning, practically walking on most rides, i think we only queued about 15mins tops for most rides.....until the influx of legoland refugees came, then the queue lines doubled...obviously, still had a good time though

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

i hate to say it, and i expect a large comeback on what i'm about to say, but i fear a lot of people who are quick to jump down chessington's neck have missed the point of going to these places entirely.....for fun, i'll explain a little.....i used to be a dyed in the wool chessington fan as a kid, ...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

have to say having not visited the park in over 12 years, my recent visit to chessington over the easter break found it pretty much as i recall it, obviously some things have changed.... but the general feelings i had of the park from when i last went are exactly the same, still the same magic for m...
