Re: 2014 Scarefest

I will be pretty annoyed if the new Scarefest attractions are a clown scarezone, and a maze themed to 'flesh eating creatures' (ie: zombies). That's essentially just moving CoS outside and Zombies! inside, it doesn't really sound like anything new.

Re: Scarefest 2012: Reviews

Hi All.  My kids and thier friends had been looking forward to Scarefest for months but had to abandon the park along with everyone else who were not 'Travellers", with hotel guests returning to the hotels complaining of feeling trapped.  By mid afternoon they were there in large gan...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I really hope the rotating trick track happens at the end of the ride; don't want the rest of the fantastic-looking coaster to be ruined by a sickly start. Have to admit, whilst their unique method of executing 14 inversions sounds interesting, I am a bit disappointed with the secret. Am trying to r...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

I had my first re-ride of Sub Terra a couple of weeks ago, was worried that the ride wouldn't make an impact on me the second time because I already knew what to expect. But I was completely wrong, it was even scarier! The actors have really honed their technique over the past few months, and I foun...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

There are enough Star Wars attractions in theme parks already. Disney has Star Tours, Chessington has Mini Land, granted- none of them are coasters; but I hope Alton will be more imaginative with SW7 and give it an original theme concept. No movie tie-ins, leave that to Universal!

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

It ain't standard though, is it? No beyond vertical drop, a non vertical and vertical lift, etc. This is Gersty finally doing what I want, vaccinating the Eurofighter of Vekoma syndrome. Multiple clones around the world which gains a reputation. For example, Kumali is excellent, rivals some B&M...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Right I had this idea for the worlds fist but I'm not sure if its piratical... but say like the cars were on a pivot, so they could tilt form side to side or forward and backwards or both? I'm not sure if this would add anything to the ride it was just an idea i had Do you mean like Macks 'E-Motion...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Thirdly, I'm pretty sure a mid-ride launch (if this is what you meant by a worlds first), has been done before, although I can't think what it is at this time. Also it wouldn't really be very marketable, which, I believe, is going to be the key point with this worlds first.  8) [/quote] Cheetah...

Re: What Cuts Would You Make?

Perhaps instead of cutting the opening hours of major roller coasters and attractions within the park; they could cut the opening hours of the Water Park down to just school holidays and weekends. I doubt many visitors would even notice if the Water Park wasn't open for the day, same for extra attra...

Re: Thorpe Park 2015 Coaster

Another thing missing at Thorpe Park is a boomerang. The Intamin Twisted Impulse could make quite a cool 2015 addition, and would be a European first. But I suppose its launch may make it seem too similar to Stealth.
...or they could rehome the Thunder Looper  :D I miss it!

Re: Quick Questions 2012

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've searched on the Merlin Annual Pass website and can't find an answer... Can you use a Merlin Annual Pass for entry on the gate into Scare Fest? Or do you have to pay an additional fee and book in advance, like at Thorpe?

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

After following this topic, I was pleased to finally get to ride N:ST on Tuesday, and that I would be riding the improved version as my first experience of it. Here's what I thought: Firstly, the noises coming from the scare maze, which you can hear as you approach Forbidden Valley work wonders. The...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm and General Discussion

By themeing I wasn't referring to the landscaping, the bunny hill/cobra roll bridge is great to look at in terms of track interaction with it's surrounding area. The problem is that whenever I notice the themeing elements such as the water mask feature; I'm noticing them because they are faded, litt...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm and General Discussion

For me: Joint 1st - Swarm / Saw. Love the zero G roll on Swarm, also like the slight differences in the ride depending on where you sit. For me, front far right is unbeatable :) Yes, it's not the most intense ride; but I come off grinning every time. The trains are such beauties as well! I went to t...

Hi, I'm a long-time reader of TTF, first time poster :) This topic has made me smile and laugh so much! "When the restraints feel like they're hugging you" "Alton Towers smells" "It's Alton Towers weather" "feeling particular attachments to clothes I've worn to Alt...
