Fireworks trip

I am missing out on scarefest but I have 2 days at the Fireworks on the 8th and 9th, I know the park is open 10am and that while there is no ERT the park is open till 9PM so how busy is the park during these days? I'm kind of assuming it would start off quiet and get stupidly busy busy later on or a...

Re: Thoughts & Views of the Recent Posting Guidelines

I'm not sure publicly having a go at people with a post edit is really appropriate some people do struggle with grammar and so a comment about needing to put more effort into posting really isn't a good way of encouraging people to join in and makes mods look like they are on a power trip! wouldn't ...

Take a picnic?

That isn't always practical for everyone, great if you drive there and can put a picnic in the car but if your staying in the hotel or have nowhere to leave a picnic it really isn't possible :(

Re: Thorpe Park 2015 Coaster

Damn height restrictions. I know the feeling As much as I can appreciate we have tougher planning regulations and noise restrictions in place and thery are there for a reason it's something we come up short for and so will never have a world leading park in this country  :( so dreams of a six ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

ROLLER COASTERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO REVERSE DOWN THE LIFT IN AN EMERGENCY! If that's part of the safety feature to lower itself slowly down the lift, then it's been designed and manufactured to allow it! How many Stealth Roll Backs can we see on yourtube? they even have a warning that a roll back ma...

Re: The Swarm Confirmed Modifications

I don't know if we can add a poll and with the new guidelines I'm hesitant to start a new topic with a poll
but on the whole do people think it's worth the extra wait to q for the backwards car?

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Once again, Gerstlauer might of implemented this rather than Alton Towers asking for it. I am sure someone will know far more about this than I would but doubt Alton Towers would have a say in the safety fetchers of this or any one  I would have thought the company would say "this is what...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Yep , i think you leave the station , complete the underground inversion then come to a stop. Then you'll do a 360 spin stationary and there will be affects and a 'cut scene' maybe ? with Screens and noises and lazers and all that and then maybe launch towards the lift hill and then obviously compl...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I'm 90% certain on the "Washing Machine" type element being a part of the ride. Has anyone seen this piece of screen testing yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOvukdU8dCA Notice how it says about "Carriage Rotations" with a spinning ride car by it? :D I think they have a trick...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

looking at the paint work as you come into the station and the extension of the station beyond where it needs to go I would suspect either a rotating tunnel (not track) or even better a LED light screen with a rotating image, this would Disorientat people so they really won't know which way is up

Re: To All Day Dine or Not to all day dine?

I'm intrigued.... Order your evening meal on the way out? How and where did you do this? I presumed the restaurants closed at park closing On the way out the courtyard BBQ place (forgotten the name) was taking orders after park closing not for long but long enough also the snack places that sell pr...

So, does anyone thing they will be able to manipulate the track that didn't fit? Well they kinda have to dont they! You can't exactly leave the track with a hole in it can they? I would assume they knew where the points it would struggle to meet and at best will be able to twist the track into plac...

Re: What would you change?

This would be working on the assumption of lifting the treetop hight restriction or planting taller trees! I would change oblivion make the first drop higher rather than a sweeping turn I would add a loop and or a corkscrew inversion and then a climb before  a second vertical drop! Rita I would...
