Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

How does revalidation work? If they don't re-issue tickets with an open date then isn't any ticket valid for any other day without question?

The system would be unable to to determine the difference between the two, no?

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

We know because the resort has told us this. Fair enough but then why not write that in your article. "It is believed that the rides computer system caused the trim brakes on the first airtime hill to be applied unnecessarily, causing the vehicle to come to a halt" just sounds like specul...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

How can you even know if it was Trim Brake issue, how could someone even determine that? It just seems like speculation for the sake of speculation.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Looks to be another fairly busy day on park judging my ridetimes.co.uk although I imagine Oblivion's queue is due to everyone in the queue absconding to Oblivion.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

It will be - All trains have made it through the whole circuit for well over a week now - there is no reason why this should be an issue with anything else but 1 train. I wouldn't be so sure. At this point we don't have a clue what's causing the problem. Maybe it's a specific train or maybe it's a ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Gerst must surely be getting their balls chewed left, right and centre at the minute? And if not they bloody should be!

Re: The Future Of Congo River Rapids

I think it will stay as it's obviously really enjoyable for many different age groups which is evident by seeing the smiles on peoples faces as it goes by and it does look nice on the path as you walk from Mutiny Bay to Katanga Canyon. Is it really that costly to run? You pump the water up and then ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I wonder if they've ever considered giving out timed tickets with every ticket purchase. There's no Fastrack so there's no money to be gained and it would certainly help alleviate the queues and make it more enjoyable for all. Although saying that I only experienced the timed queue thing once for Ob...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Really don't see a point in queuing from 9am tomorrow. Anyone agree? -Sent from a mobile phone- Depends what you want. We chose to ride it later, which while a three hour queue, allowed us to ride everything we wanted knowing that as long as we were in the queue by 5:30 we would get a ride. Had we ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Got back from a great day at Alton Towers - again was busy which isn't quite surprising judging by the rest of the week. I wonder if Alton is as surprised? We chose to ride The Smiler toward the end of the day and I've got to say I absolutely loved it - we all did. I can't really describe why I enjo...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

We are not going until October 1st. Why? Because EVERY ride has teething problems when it first opens. People are acting suprised that this can happen. I'm not sure why?! AT do not have to give people revalidated tickets as on the back of the ticket you have bought it clearly states "Rides sub...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

i can only imagine the loss of money for all these re validated tickets. people are just being mardy. why let one ride ruin your day. theres plenty of others to enjoy. just go ride nemesis and be damn happu :D Yeah revalidating tickets is pretty good on there part. It doesn't cost them anything but...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Just got back from the park and it was a surreal atmosphere in there. Everybody looked miserable, on rides, off rides, walking around, the staff, everyone just in general. Well I'm not surprised. While the sunny weather is indeed lovely - too hot and people start getting frustrated coupled with rid...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I don't think you should get free tickets to come back just because 2 rides are closed, especially when one is just open But isn't the point of new rides to encourage people to visit? If Alton don't think The Smiler is important enough to revalidate tickets then they should stop building new rides ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I'd love to see the reaction of the staff as the train goes around and doesn't quite make the incline. I imagine there's quite a few expletives fired off.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

You've got to laugh really but then also cry at the same time for all the people there. I know they'll say they revalidate tickets or whatever but there's an expense involved getting there. And I don't think this is one those things where you can claim it's beyond their control. It's not a mechanica...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Well looking at ridetimes the queues are worse today than they were during half term.
