The Flume Remnants

Hi all, The recent announcement of the Flume items auction has prompted me of a question I had during my last visit to Alton Towers. In the forest which the Flume used to pass through, I noticed the concrete trough for part of the track, and an apparent tunnel beyond this are still present. Is this ...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

Since Alton Towers have just announced their VIP packages, I can't help but laugh at what they include! Second, following the customer research we’ve also made the capsules a little smaller to make sure your drinks stay fresher and fizzier for longer. And for those of you who brought up fizzy vs non...

Re: The Future Of Congo River Rapids

I love the rapids.  I have had some great times on there, especially lately.  Not sure whether it is just me, but it seems to be getting guests a lot wetter lately...  I came off soaked on the smiler opening day!!

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I really do apologise if this has been brought up in the past few pages, but I couldn't see a picture/link to this so thought I would post.  When browsing The Smiler game, it say's higest drop 30m (pointing at the v. lift hill).  So perhaps this could be hinting to a backwards drop. ...

Re: The Smiler opening day fiasco

I understand everyone's anger, as they should be providing appropriate answers to questions, and support/decent communication. However, I also feel that whilst it is annoying that Alton Towers only gave 20 hours notice to the ride not opening, they may have had absolutely no idea about the delays (p...

Re: New Park Entrance

Long winded, very expensive and doubtful would ever happen but i'd always thought it would be good to place a smaller entrance where Adventureland is placed. The public could enter through the gates behind the ice-tent & cars would drive round the back of SBL and join the existing road to car p...

Re: The Smiler - Marketing [May Contain Spoilers]

Just a recent news article I came across HERE Apparently there are '16 dizzying upside down moments'... and there is no mention of the ride being late, just that it's set to open in the next few weeks... Not the best article, I must say. Not sure whether I am over thinking things, but that article ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Hi there, Sorry if this has been brought up before, but to those dismissing the idea of the freefall backwards drop, wasn't there a post on this forum about a member of the Alton Towers staff saying something like the 'correct' secret aspect had been around on the forum for a while, and that it had ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I think it is going to be onboard carrige effects because i do not think alton towers can hide such a big secret element but they can on the carrige maybey thats what john wardley was on about probaly other ofboard effects also though? I suppose it's possible... Would hope it would be more exciting...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I honestly think (all tho I hope not) they will play the whole mental effect card as the worlds first! the first coaster with 5 mental effects! that effects you mentally and physically blah blah blah!! and the beating is the inversion record! I hope not but I can see it coming I can see it being; '...

Re: Ride Downtime Thread 2012

I was at alton towers last Thursday (23/08), and saw the monorail being evacuated due to a fire drill.  All I know is that it was up and running again within about half an hour.  The skyride seemed to be having technical issues that day and wasn't open until about 1 o'clock, and it was sto...
