Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Concept art and posters produced by Merlin have never been technically accurate. Considering on Stealth publications rider's are seen with B&M style restraints... I wouldn't read too much into their images at this point.

Re: Would Oblivion be the same without the underground section?

If Oblivion did not have the hole then I would hope that the drop height would still remain the same, the ground would have been lowered for the track to be open air and it have some kind of splash down; it would also have to have some kind of extended layout because the hole really is Oblivion's on...

Re: Oblivion

I really like the sound of the hybrid cars; front row facing backwards and back row facing backwards. However, I can imagine that this would be quite a costly refit considering you would need to re-engineer the chassis of the back row (moving the connectors to the back) so it can be connected in suc...

Re: Would Oblivion be the same without the underground section?

Without the hole, Oblivion's theme would lose significant impact or have to be completely changed. Considering the hole is to represent falling into oblivion; without the hole, there would be no Oblivion.

Re: TH13TEEN different drop systems?

Sounds like a really cool idea, random sequence of effects with a different story line each time; almost in a similar ilk to Verbolten in Busch Gardens with its 3 varying stories and effects which happen in the forest.

Re: What is so bad about Nemesis Inferno?

I'm not quite sure what you mean, do you mean if it was built before Nemesis? or built before any other of the major attraction at Thorpe i.e. before Colossus.

And I voted that it is too short is the main problem with it.

Re: Slammer: Staying or going?

Maybe if it is going to be down longer than they expected, they can work on more long term fixes for the thing as opposed to short term patch jobs. Maybe even get the guys at S&S to have a crack at their own jigsaw puzzle of a ride system.

Re: Thorpe Park 2015 Coaster

When a park adds a ride to their line up, they want it to offer something new. So with the sit down looper, inverted looper, launched, dark, vertical, wing/flyer/floorless (heck, Swarm is just greedy the potential amount of birds that thing has hit with one stone), it would be in my thinking that th...

Re: Slammer: Staying or going?

The tight shoulder restraints appear to be a big contributor to those that say the ride is painful. It might be in Thorpe's best interests to put something in the queue line announcement or loading announcement about pulling the shoulder bar down so it rests lightly on your shoulders and pull the l...

Re: Slammer: Staying or going?

While S&S no longer produce the ride, as long as they provide support to Six Flags and Thorpe for their rides then they will keep it up until management decide it isn't worth it anymore.

Re: Th13teen trimmed yet again?

If the trimming was to do with overspeeding into the second lift hill then could the system not be re-programmed in order for the maximum speed value to be higher and prevent the system from e-stopping needlessly? I'm not sure where The negative G's argument came from but surely if Quantum at Thorpe...

Re: Oblivion Audio (Seat speakers maybe?)

In seat audio would be too costly. Only addition which I really think would be good for the ride would be to add some kind of light effects in there; I would say put some audio in there as well (much like the yourday footage they did for Oblivion) but no doubt the Ropers supersonic hearing will put ...
