Re: Alton Towers remove "The mills"

Towers were the only Merlon company to provide accomodation anyway, yes the mills were great but you should think about where your going to live before you apply for a job, it isnt Towers responsibility. Whilst I agree it's not Towers responsibility to find accommodation for employees, I don't thin...

Re: Alton Towers remove "The mills"

It's a real shame Towers are no longer offering accommodation for it's employees. I would imagine this will now see a stop to many people (including enthusiasts) from moving to work there now, and often these people who move are the some of the most enthusiastic and passionate for the business.

Re: Are you allowed a GoPro camera on the rollercoasters?

Quite simply, no. You are not allowed to film on almost any of the rides at Alton Towers. Regardless of whether of not the recording device is secure, permission has to be gained officially from the resort. Good quality POV videos are already available on youtube, that were filmed with permission fr...

Re: Future of Ripsaw? What would you want as a replacement?

In regards to getting wet from the fountains. As far as I'm aware, Ripsaw isn't regarded as a water ride and the operator isn't allowed to get riders wet unless it's a hot day and they've been given permission from a higher source. Most of the time, the fountains are operational as a 'tease' effect.

Re: Ripsaw lighting?

When did they repaint the front? It used to say Alton Towers but now it just says HUSS. Seems kind of weird that they'd do that, was the unit just replaced maybe? Far as I'm aware, it was just an "Alton Towers" sign that covered the Huss branding. Over the years the sign (along with other...

Re: Ripsaw lighting?

You're correct in that there's flashing beacons on each end of the gondola, one green and one amber. If you watch carefully they flash when all harnesses are in the open position, to signal to the operator technicals such as the air pressure are at the appropriate level. The beacons then stop flashi...

Re: Scarefest 2012

Out of interest, what do you guys think the park could do to effectively add atmosphere to the park over the Scarefest period without them spending budget they often don't have.

Things the park could do easily at little to no cost?

Re: Maximum trains?

Towers will always attempt to run their rides at maximum capacity, unless maintenance will not allow for this or there is no demand for it. Rides such as Air require the trains to undergo huge amounts of maintenance, which is often undertaken throughout the morning. This maintenance will in theory r...

Re: Rude staff?

The staff who work on respective rides are trained to deal with such situations. As far as I'm aware, there are very strict procedures in place as to how situations such as the one mentioned should be dealt with. I'de imagine that these procedures don't include using words such as 'fat' to describe ...
