Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Errr or maybe they are different because they are not euro fighter trains? They are separate cars whereas Eurofighter trains are one piece. (Albeit with articulation in the middle)

Look at the wheels as well, they are nothing like.
The only thing the same is they are made by Gertlauster.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Quite a bit of people have said that the earliest it will open is May 25th and if that is the case, I will actually cry! Im going with my school May 24th and I live up in Scotland so its not like I can go anytime I want  :( Anybody think its possible to open earlier than that, what with the sp...

Re: Liverpool Duckmarine Sinks!

Bilge pump stopped working? That's what my guess would be.

Hope they fix it up again that ride was excellent, wasn't there 2 Ducks if I remember right?

Edit:- Drayton Manor also used to have a Duck that used to do rides into the lake, I'm going back 30 years now mind but still an interesting point.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

It's quite long and it always were I lauch it in e game haha then again could be here to slow it Dow. So it can connect to the chain :/ Hmm forget what I said haha :D If you look at the ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

So then boys and girls, looks like I was right and the track still won't be finished for this weekend. Does anyone still honestly believe this ride will see previews in April? I've said for some time now that I believe the ride will open in June, well having seen the effort AT have gone too to say i...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The point about saw is this, its a lot less complicated yet took 4 months from the track layout being finished for the rest of the ride to be ready for opening and its not just saw, lets look at The Swarm, track complete 23rd November yet the first test run was on the 17th of January, that's nearly ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Saw is an off the shelf fairground ride, it's a bog standard Eurofighter which can be purchased with a base so doesn't even need foundations, that in my view is a fairground ride. Firstly Smiler isn't a Eurofighter, its track is based loosely on it but the trains will be completely different and the...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I reckon this coaster will be 95% complete by the 16th of April, and will definitely be open for the first week in may holiday.         I've just spilt my coffee reading that! The track being complete (which it isn't yet) is just the start. It needs pow...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

^Same. When AT anounced a Gersty would be making it, I wasn't best pleased. This, however, I wasn't expecting. This may be AT's most anticipated coaster since Oblivion, perhaps. The hype on this coast is unreal, I think everyone is glad this has come out, and I can't wait to ride it in July. SOMEON...

Re: Alton Towers - Winged Coaster?

With the height restriction at AT there is unlikely to be a 300foot plus high wing rider, and anyway my guess for SW8 will be an indoor coaster to go on the carpark along with an entertainment complex and new entrance. +1 on the avoiding B&M though, too expensive, too big and to be frank too bor...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Funny to see Steve Foster cranes working on this, I remember seeing a Steve Foster crane working on Oblivion 16 years ago (1997 season!). Why wouldn't they be? They are the local crane company after all! Strange I was talking to one of there drivers last week. The track won't be finished by the wee...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Might be going 18th may to AT, what are the chances of the smiler being open?  :| Close to zero. Construction Is still only about half way. They still need to test it and theme it. Etc. it will be very mate May opening. I'll second that, very little chance of it opening before June in my opini...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Wow... I didn't realise how much they had done! I am going soon, so I am excited to see how big it really is compared to the rest of X-Sector/Oblivion, All they really have to do is the rest of the sea serpent roll the other dive loop (I think) the bunny hops and then the lift hills. I can't wait! ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Well the pace doesn't seem to be picking up very much does it!
The lack of track in the area under the maintenance building worries me as it's obviously not on site or it would have been put in first.
This to me confirms a secret element or launch that is still being tested.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Going back to the Eurofighter argument as it was me that said it wasn't I'll explain why it isn't. The train is completely different and there is no beyond vertical drop THE signature Eurofighter element. The only thing that's the same is the manufacturer and a passing resemblance to the track. If S...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Thanks for the spelling correction, like I said I wasn't sure. I don't think this will be the worlds first, that will be under the maintenance shed in my opinion, but it would make for a more exciting start than a boring old chain lift. Even if it doesn't invert I'm 90% sure the first hill wi...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The worlds first will be under the maintenance shed, not a clue what it is though, but my guess is that's what they are waiting for before building the shed.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I posted an opinion which by definition can't be wrong, so I'm not. (End of right or wrong discussion) The idea of an inverted lift is not a new one its has been done before but not with a launch I believe. Basically the launch is up a standard hill that then inverts as it reaches near the top, this...
