Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

Please can someone clarify this for me. I was at Alton in Towers Trading last weekend and was told that the pass holders drinks capsules were not sold at Alton and advised I would need to go to Thorpe to buy one. That can't be right??? I was at Alton Towers the same weekend and bought one. Not avai...

Re: What's The Smiler like?

The vertical lift has previously put me off going on Saw at Alton Towers, but I didn't really think about it on the Smiler. The desire to go on the ride was greater than my dislike for vertical lifts, and I found that it was fine. As said above, it's actually quite quick anyway. Just keep your eyes ...

Re: Could anyone see Merlin Buying the NEC

Merlin won't buy it, and it won't be turned into a theme park. Completely wrong location for a theme park, and already makes plenty of money as a major exhibition and concert venue with only the NIA in central Birmingham as a serious alternative concert venue locally, both of which are currently cou...

Re: Falcon's Fury (Drop Tower)

Been to Busch Gardens today (Tuesday). Make no mistake, this thing is huge. Can be seen from just about anywhere on the park. The cranes are gone now, and it looks like they have the framework for the seats in place now, tho no seats.

Signs around the park simply say opening Spring 2014

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

But they have, there are other Merlin attractions open over the closed season. It's not their fault you would have liked to use this at a Theme Park over another Merlin Attraction . I don't think the "Birthday" offer should be available all year on a one use policy when there are decent o...

Re: The little things that make the magic

The ride on the monorail. Mind your knees and the music on Duel. Choo Choo on Runaway Mine Train. The Katanga Canyon music. And I just love watching Nemesis (almost as much as going on it)

Re: The ride you have queued up the longest for at Alton is???

2 hours in the rain for the smiler. Worth it tho.

After that it's probably 90 minutes for RITA, and close to that for Nemesis back in the 90s (like Martin I remember using the full queue line)

Re: Funny Things You've Overheard at Parks

On Friday, while on the Sky Ride, I overheard 2 girls talking, and one asked "are you strapped in on Air?"

Sounds like a great day. Glad you enjoyed it :)

I agree with you on Nemesis Sub:Terra. I found it a huge let down too.

It is a little obvious that Spiderpig isn't exactly new, having more than 400 posts

Re: What rides are open when it rains?

Smiler warns you that "you may get slightly damp"

I closed my eyes for the vertical lift in the rain. Didn't like the thought of rain falling straight into my eyes. Rest of the ride was no problem, and that was in quite heavy rain.

And to think I spent a year just reading about the smiler construction, not realising all of this existed!

I'm not exactly new as I've been hanging around and lurking in the background for a while, but haven't really said anything until a few days ago.

I'm Matt, from Worcestershire :)

Smells: doughnuts and chips
Sounds: Duels "mind your knees" warning, and the smiler queue line music

Seemed fine when I went on it last month. It's still one of the rides I have to go on when I visit Alton Towers  :)

Never been sick, but felt like I might be after Hex a few years ago. I think it's the old thing of the brain seeing one thing but feeling something different. There were a few that threw up as we came out
