Re: Area Speculation and Discussion

Gloomy Wood? Mutany bay? Katanga Canyon? AT are certainly giving conflicting info.

The style of the new banners, the style of the fencing, the rumour of a wicker man theme... it all points to it being a katanga attraction. It wouldn't fit in or make sense in either of the other two areas.

Re: SW8

That demolition picture is rather heart wrenching! it never feels real that a classic Alton ride is no more until you see it completely broken up! I must admit I hadn't gone on the flume for years as when I had visited the weather hadn't been great but I will miss it! the layout was very lengthy wit...

Re: Which Theme Do You Prefer?

I will have to say ug land! Both for nostalgic reasons and otherwise. Corky was my first ever rollercoaster I went on, I'll never forget the feel of the area, the soundtrack and IMO there was much more themeing back then than there is in dark forest now. I personally loved the giant bones etc. Also,...

Re: Towers Loving Care

It would be a ridiculous decision to have the monorail shut without a proper new entrance being built first. The 2016 season is not the season to be making the towers street entrance redundant. No doubt not running the monorail would save a lot on money but logistically with the park in its current ...

Re: Towers Loving Care

So this rumour and the ripsaw rumour have turned out to be true, do you think we can expect the others to be too? Looking at the website it is only Hex's page that states it will be shut due to the TLC programme so far. Surely they would of updated the others at the same time? Although saying that R...

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

I love the park that's the problem! I would hate to see it on a steady downhill slide.. I don't mean they would fob us off with TLC as I do believe this is a positive step and was needed years ago and that things will actually be done. What I mean is they might not tell the exact truth about the flu...

Re: Towers Loving Care

So I'm confused here, is it being painted white or red? Because some of you are suggesting there were red rusty parts already but I've always recalled the entire track being white?

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

That makes it sound as though any closures will purely just be for 2016 and down to the 'towers loving care scheme' presumably meaning down for refurbishment. But the flume would not be down for refurbishment, they wouldn't bother when its life is limited. We already know Ripsaw has gone, I fear if ...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

Remember when some people thought there could be a launch on the vertical lift hill on the smiler.. When it comes to AT you just don't know so even though they mention the word launch they could just be meaning in the VR this is where the craft or whatever launches into space.

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

Regarding the tunnel interior why shouldn't it be themed? The station retheme looks rather extravagant and if there is extra theming scattered everywhere else then a bland concrete tunnel will look awful. As I said I won't be trying VR and others will want to ride without also so there will be peopl...

Re: Planning Application for Enhancements to Air

I'm just disappointed that they have gone with the name Galactica. So terribly cheesy! I won't be trying the VR myself (more likely at an added cost) and I just don't see the point in it but I am looking forward to seeing what they do with the queue line, station and general theming. Hopefully that ...

Re: Forbidden Valley Rollercoaster Restaurant

I have a feeling they will really be bumping up the price compared to other eateries on park. Not only will you be paying for 'the experience' but if you look at the sample menu it looks as though it will be offering the fanciest food of the lot. Less burger and more potted ham! Who wants that on a ...

Re: Planning Application for Enhancements to Air

Wouldn't it just be easier to utilise the two stations they have? In one there could be an entire ride car that is fitted out with VR and the other is for people who just want your standard experience. I do fear for the throughput, it's bad enough as it is now but this won't help. They can't expect ...

Re: Planning Application for Enhancements to Air

I was thinking about something the other day.. Now this is all based on past rumours but still.. The Smiler was 'supposedly' not the original plan for SW7 as apparent new ride technology was not ready. Could this of been VR? And now instead of incorporating it into SW8 they have decided to add it to...

Re: Planning Application for Enhancements to Air

The only thing that teaser gives away is the space theme. To me the man screaming and the 'in space nobody hears you scream' just relates to the fact that people scream on coasters. New experience we can almost be certain is meaning VR now. Launch as well? I highly doubt it.

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

Sad times! Although I never personally went on ripsaw it still holds a special place in AT memories for me. When I was too young for the coasters me and my grandma used to sit for ages just watching ripsaw go round whilst we waited for my parents to come off Nemmy. What I do dislike about Merlin is ...

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

If the foodloop isn't set to open until mid-season, and presumably air v2.0 too, Surely the whole area beyond Nemesis will be fenced off anyway? They'll probably do some work on the Air Plaza, and if they're really paying close attention to detail, then "Air" is actually written in the br...

Re: Planning Application for Enhancements to Air

Now a space theme with a launch through the tunnel which would hopefully be much better themed is something I could really warm to, the chance of this happening though seems very unlikely. I'm not sure how long relevant changes to the track would take but if it is possible I'm all for it. I'm pretty...

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

Unless you are a high ranking person at Merlin or AT then you cannot possibly know for sure if Ripsaw is being removed and taking what a fan site says as gospel is pretty ridiculous. If AT's twitter mentioned winter maintenance then for the moment we will have to believe it is staying. If news doesn...

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

Right guys I have no clue whether this is related or not but I have been doing a bit of digging. The latest video on the mind gap section of the minds wanted site shows some escalators in a tube station with an old looking pram, well I thought I had seen them escalators before on another video I had...
