Hi all, Just wondered if anyone (local) could suggest which is the best approach to AT coming from the North ? We will be going down the A1 to Doncaster, then M18, M1, A38 to Derby... This is where I have a dilemma every year... We usually go to just outside of Derby & cut across the top via Kir...
Seriously, I'd face your fears head on and go for the king or queen of the park and ride either the nemesis or the smiler lol although the question for nemesis will be shorter so may be enter as the tension of the smiler's que may add to your fear
I havn't as I've a good stomach for these types of things but I remember goin to Flamingoland as a child and going on a similar version of enterprise and my mum was being sick through her fingers and it was spraying out the side of the at onto people watching whilst the ride op read his paper
I want to say The Smiler because it looks amazing, but unfortunately Nemesis still just pips it. Apart from The Marmaliser, it doesn't really have any theming, just fancy black & yellow paintwork. Nemesis however has a lot. The station monster is obviously the biggest stand out feature, but you...

But if you think about it, It doesn't give the rollercoasters much space and also it would limit the coaster from doing loops and inversions several times. (Ok I would love to know how the smiler works its way around this). Not everything is about multiple inversions unless your going to go all out...
An alton towers underground ;) That's an even better idea! So there would be Underground stops scattered around each area of the park and instead of paying for a ticket you can get on for free! This is a perfect idea! :D Digging a tunnel that size would cost a fortune ! Plus I think the best part a...
Personally I think its a great restriction on the park. They could quite easily build monsters of rides all over the park but I feel this restriction has forced AT to become more imaginative & creative with their rides. I love how when your in an area of a park, you can't really see other rides ...
Long winded, very expensive and doubtful would ever happen but i'd always thought it would be good to place a smaller entrance where Adventureland is placed. The public could enter through the gates behind the ice-tent & cars would drive round the back of SBL and join the existing road to car pa...
I don't know which i prefer as they offer different options. Monorail gets you from the carpark to the entrance with brilliant views of the park (especially FV & KC) to build up the tension before you start your day- it's only let down (forgetting reliability issues) is that it only serves as ex...

Planning on going for first time in nearly a decade this summer. We're looking at a 1 night 2 day visit. 2hr drive for us from Manchester so not too bad. The park looks to have come on loads recently. Really looking forward to it. it has.... I remember going as a child & it was basically slabs ...
I'm not sure she will have a monument. Corkscrew gained this right as she changed the face of the theme park industry in the UK. Nemesis is fantastic and highly rated around the world, but I'm not sure she should warrant such an accolade. Sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree. Corkscrew kinda ...
Ralph Armond, then the divisional director of Alton Towers, said about plans for the wooden roller coaster, during the Nemesis 10th Birthday event on March 15th 2004 HERE.
Can't they add speakers in the tunnel section as you going backwards to make it sound like the Wraiths are chasing you out. Id often thought that alongside adding a small section of themeing inside the tunnel (basically vines & wraiths) which can be seen when a strobe or light flash goes off...
