Re: SW8

^ Wicked's hardware is Zierer, not Gerstlauer, and it's an LSM launch, not LIM. The vertical LSMs don't really act as a launch at all, as the train enters them at a higher speed than it exits (following the more conventional indoor launch), meaning they merely exist as an alternative (admittedly mor...

Re: SW8

Nemesis and Air's lift hill are in completely different directions. Nemesis faces Gloomy Wood heading for the entrance way and Air faces more Katanga Canyon . You're half right. Nemmy's faces the storage yards behind Duel and the Monorail maintenance shed, while Air's faces directly into the car pa...

Re: Your World First Ideas

Is there any type of roller coaster anywhere which basically goes all the way through a track etc forward and then gets to a point where it changes then goes through the rest of the track backwards until the end?? Because I have an idea for maybe a worlds first... It could be a family roller coaste...

Re: Alton Towers: What Ever Happened to...?

Use of the red dye relies on the state of the local water table. When Nemesis' pools overflow, they drain directly into the surrounding land, and if the water table is high at the time it can become contaminated/polluted by it. Of course that's only one explanation, and it's equally (if not more) li...

Re: Funderworld

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get up there as much as I might have liked since Saturday, although a quick drive-by this afternoon revealed the following notable machines: Mellors' Starflyer Graham Sedgwick's Super Spin (KMG Experience) Graham Sedgwick's Rock Rage (KMG Inversion) Gary Evans' E...

Just had a quick nose around. Nothing whatsoever pulled on yet, but Holland's dodgems are parked up on Saville Road

Re: SW8

^ Nope, Texas Giant was the original 1990 custom (Summers) woodie on that site, which became the first coaster to undergo the new generation RMC 'Iron Horse' treatment between 2009 and 2011. New Texas Giant was the name given to the regenerated/new coaster (depending on your take on the iron horse p...

Double post, but it's a tad relevant:

Really not sure what to expect now, but I'll be popping up to the Downs every now and then over the next couple of weeks for the pull-on, so I'll be sure to report back on what's attending. :P

Completely overlooked this at first, but there's a site map featuring all attendees (as always subject to change) published on the website: http://www.funderworld.com/parkinfo_files/stacks_image_199.jpg Notable machines: Rogers' Freddy's Revenge Matterhorn Joe White's Freak Out and Speed Buzz KMG Bo...

Re: Weston Super Mare- Seafront Lawns.

Nope :P M&W's machine was the one used for the Ice Mountain Coaster at last year's Winter Wonderland (on loan to Mellors as theirs was in Dubai at the time), which is why the cars were rethemed: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3818/11272832223_e7789d89de.jpg At the time the track seen in the pict...

Re: Weston Super Mare- Seafront Lawns.

Rogers doesn't own a Revvy mouse though... He may be presenting it, but it's not his machine :P The Crazy Mouse name is the only thing that didn't add up about the Mellors theory. Theirs is either Magic Mouse, Cyclone or Alpine Coaster. My new guess is that it's Matthews & White's with a new pai...

Re: Weston Super Mare- Seafront Lawns.

Oh, then it can only be Mellors' :P

Presumably they're setting it up there for a couple of weeks before lugging it up the M5 for Funderworld.

Re: Weston Super Mare- Seafront Lawns.

Any chance of pictures (or just a description)? I haven't heard anything about this before now, but the only machine that I can really see it being is Anderton & Rowland's Zamperla model:

Re: Funderworld

The event is organised by Mellors, but is attended by various showmen. Mellors' own starflyer has never attended, but Elliot Deakin's did last year (I think it was his first ground with it?). The Space Roller Topscan was sold off to Europe in 2009, but Crow's Top Buzz 2 has attended the event for ye...

Re: On-Ride Breakdown Experiences

I've had far too many of these to count, but I distinctly remember being stuck on iSpeed's final brake run behind a train with loading/dispatch issues. It must have only been 10 minutes tops, but 37° midday heat with no shade can make anything feel like a long time...

Awesome! It's great to hear about any park taking such good care of their old flats, let alone one the size of Fun City.

Re: Musical Guilty Pleasures

I've always tried to avoid genre-snobbishness... There's little I hate more in music than people who will subconsciously force themselves to dislike an artist - often without ever having listened to their music - simply because they don't match their own harsh (and often wildly inaccurate) criteria ...
