Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

In light of them stopping and starting cars on the lift hill today I have come up with a new theory, before people start going "you dont know how the ride works" you are correct I do not, this is simply another theory as to why it was sent of the lift hill. Anyway I wonder if it would be p...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Just imagine how much worse this could have been if the ride had floor-less trains or lap bars like the other infinity coasters do. I think its quite lucky that The Smiler has the train style that it does. Some people are suggesting the trains should be designed to take an impact but I personally th...

Re: Nemesis 21st Birthday?

Realistically the only thing I imagine we will see is the station being refurbished, I can't see them painting the track as its colour now fits the theme better than a fresh white track. I disagree, the theme is they have used steel to hold down the monster, not rusty steel, steel. The only dirt th...

Re: The Future of RITA..

In my opinion they really need to work on the Rita themeing, the scaffolding just looks terrible. I saw an image someone made a while ago with a thirteen crypt style building below the length of the launch, this could replace the scaffolding and make it look much better as well, but knowing towers n...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I would imagine that if the bottom wheels of The Smiler were constantly in contact with the track they would wear away much more quickly and this would involve Merlin spending money, which they don't like to do.

Re: Park Music and Videos

Hey I was just wondering if any one has a full version of The Smiler theme? And before you say it, no I don't mean the 3 minute version! I know that there is more to the song because in the queue there was a part where all the music cut out and it does nothing but the main riff and I can't find tha...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Street view may never get updated but Google have announced that they will be letting people add their own 360 degree images to maps soon, so we will basically have up to date street view all of the time. And I,m sure Microsoft will get a streetside of Alton sometime in the future for Bing maps.

From that pic it looks like the wheels are missing from the left hand side of the drive.

Oblivion seems to be open today :)

That pic is from when they were building it I think, it looks very new in that photo and there is some sort of wrenching going on.

Re: Fireworks 2013

From what ive read online the fireworks this year are going to be based on "memories" from all the rides, from Corkscrew up to The Smiler. So not just an assault of pop songs  :D Please let this be true..... The shows have gone downhill since the themes were taken away....Electric To...

What I would Like to Happen: The Smiler : I would Like to see the floor in the smiler queue Line painted grey just because I think it would look a whole lot better, I would also like the same done in the concrete pit. I would also like the drainage issues to be solved Nemesis : I would like to see n...

Re: Rudeness to staff

I was in the queue for Thirteen once and a guy came through the single riders with his son. The ride host told him he and his son would be split up because they are in single riders, seem obvious right? Well the guy started swearing at the ride host and eventually left because he had just completely...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Just to add my knowledge. I can assure you that if you took a bolt out of every section of that track the coaster would still be perfectly safe. In today's world, (specifically when the health and safety of humans are at risk) there is no room for "that will do" situations. Everything is ...

well they have replaced about half the ride so they may aswell replace the parts they didn't replace last close season this closed season and it will be like a new ride.
