Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

The 'little slip' happened on the first lift for me too. My guess its due to blocking, the train that stopped was at about that position and the test train hadn't cleared the next block. Maybe there is a sensor that triggers at that point on the hill which is go/no go regarding the next block and th...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Hey, visited today, did single rider, queued for 2 hours with one pause to put the new train on with the dummies (I'm guessing its new as there was still cellophane on the otsr). Then a train was stopped on the vertical lift because the new train hadn't cleared the block brake on the final brake run...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Is it just me or does anyone think they should bring back the speakers on the top of oblivion but say something new:

"DONT, BREAK DOWN!"

Re: So has The Smiler topped Nemesis?

Other - they are two different rides, the positive G forces on nemmie are more intense and the pacing that it has makes it an intense ride from start to finish. The smiler experiments with hang time and air time as well as positive G's and has breaks in its pacing with its block sections. The smiler...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Can anyone tell me are those cameras in the back of the seats and if so can you buy the video and how much thanks When I sat on the second row, there seems to be 2 mounting brackets, one between the 1st and second seat, one between the 3rd and 4th seats across the row in front. My guess is that eve...

Re: The Smiler

Here's my two penneth after two rides today, (I was at the front of the second train btw) Starting with the cons: the sound effects before the first lift hill are unbearably loud, waiting there was almost painful. Towards the end of the ride I noticed a bit of shuffling of the wheels. And that's it ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Wow, I miss one day of checking the forum and I get 30 pages behind then spend 4 days catching up! I planned to go on the 23rd but after working the 22nd and finding out that evening that it wasn't going to be open I had a few drinks and decided to go to Blackpool pleasure beach. The big one was shu...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I did spot something else - as the train is pulled up both lift hills - the infamous "fins" retract just before the train goes over them, and then they pop back up behind the train! I know the trim brakes on Intamin coasters are down at first, and then pop up after the train passes over (...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

We now have a train held (still vertical) on the lifthill, and some staff with no tools looking to be practising the evacuation. If they can do it vertically at the bottom then they can do it at the top, no need to roll the train back for evac... Add to that all the coinsidences with only the train...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Really looking forward to going down into the pit and exploring it. Hang on a minute... It is going to be possible to go down into the pit? I didn't think there was a way for the general public to get down there? Isn't the queue line in the pit? That goes around the marmaliser and the track... Sorr...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Just got home from the park. Few things to say: Wow! The smiler is huge! It does dominate x-sector and the marmaliser is huge too. Really looking forward to going down into the pit and exploring it. The airtime hills may be the highlight of the ride, they really drop down deep into the trench! About...
