Re: Project Nem 20.

I agree with the above comments - this looks amazing and by far a lot better than I could do. However, just to point out that in the last image you posted the Air lift hill does not go anywhere near Nemesis. When in actual fact the lift hill climbs over the final turn into the break run on Nemmy. Is...

Re: Los Angeles- No Car... Is it Possible?

We are off to LA in September and have not hired a car. Long Beach is about as far south as you can go in LA and from all accounts, not the nicest of areas to walk around. Universal is north of Hollywood hills and Long Beach to there is some distance right through the middle of the city. We are stay...

Re: SW8

What do you mean by "traditional coaster style"? Everything advances and changes with the times. Corkscrew went upside down - this was a new concept and nowadays we look at as being a prerequisite for the norm. Oblivion was the first to go "vertical" now we have Gerst coasters go...

Re: People Smoking Outside Of Designated Areas

But you are on private property and technically breaking a park rule then? Technically breaking a rule in which you have no say if you accept it or not, does not feature as rule of entry on the back of your ticket and a rule which breaks UK law...... ......it is a stupid rule that has not been thou...

Re: People Smoking Outside Of Designated Areas

Do I smoke when I go to Alton Towers?  Yes Do I use the designated smoking areas?  Sometimes Do I smoke in the queue lines?  Never When I am on park, if I feel like a cigarette, and I am close to a designated smoking area, I will use it. If I am not near one, I will always choose a p...

Re: People Smoking Outside Of Designated Areas

Regardless of the above, it is still a park rule and anyone saying that you will ignore it is a poor attitude, especially from fans. No its not poor attitude at all. It is POOR from AT to single out people doing something perfectly legal and discriminating against my freedom of choice and my freedo...

Re: People Smoking Outside Of Designated Areas

^ mate calm down please, it is opinion. No, Thorpe do not have DSA but it is not aimed to be as family friendly as AT. Yes you are right, and as I said in my post, there are not enough DSA in the park and they are not clearly labelled on the map so I will agree fully with that :) I hope that AT add...

Re: People Smoking Outside Of Designated Areas

OK, after 2 days on park I noticed the following: People do not have enough warning about designated smoking areas. Staff don't really do anything about it (as cool as most of the staff are :)) Half of the people smoking weren't smoking the usual... I now think that Towers as a whole need to crack ...

Re: People Smoking Outside Of Designated Areas

I think you'll find there's a stark difference between committing murder on private land and smoking. Alton Towers can remove you from the park from smoking. It is included in their T&C's of admission entry, that you agree to abide by at all times. You may not sign anything, but there is an agr...

Re: People Smoking Outside Of Designated Areas

A reasonable explanation? its not illegal - AT can put advisory in, but they cannot make laws. Whilst they cannot make laws, the land Alton Towers runs on is private land and as such they are legally within their rights to create policies that people must abide by whilst on their property. The Alto...

Re: People Smoking Outside Of Designated Areas

I understand that smokers want to smoke but personally I think it's selfish of smokers to light up around people. I fake cough and make them feel really guilty. I don't see any reasonable explanation why smokers think they have any right to break a rule which Alton Towers have put in place. As for ...

Re: People smoking outside of designated areas.

They have the right to remove people the same way as and shopkeeper has "the right to refuse services to anyone". They are pretty much backing smokers into a corner here and I do not agree with it one bit. These terms and conditions are on their website, your agreement to terms and conditi...

Re: People smoking outside of designated areas.

I agree with the above poster. Smoking outside is NOT an issue - it is in fact UK law that smoking outside is permitted. However, smoking in a confined area (queue line) is 100% unacceptable. I am a smoker myself but I believe I am considerate to those around me (won't blow smoke at people, will hap...

Re: Six Flags Magic Mountain

I have had to change my plans. We are sue in Las Vegas on Monday 29th September 2014 and because MM only opens at weekends at that time of year I am pretty much resigned to not visiting. Has anyone done Universal in LA? or Knotts Berry Farm? I am trying to find the "next best thing" really!

Re: Colossus

I haven't used the word imaginative, I said more thought out. Im aware that she is a clone with an added extra. The point in trying to make, is that her execution of inversions is much better as a ride experience and in relation to themeing than The Smiler, who's inversions aren't very well calcula...

Re: Colossus

So you are saying a coaster that has been cloned http://rcdb.com/1145.htm is more imaginative than a complete custom layout? I think you need to revisit the term "imaginative". For theming, I will agree with you - Colossus is better themed than the Smiler and does interact with the terrain...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Kids are back to school, unis and colleges have started too.

Simply this is the quiestest time to visit.

We would have had these queue times on Tuesday had the schools in Staffordshire not been on strike - but even then we only queued for a maximum of 30 minutes!

Re: Colossus

The inversions are executed brilliantly, and have much more thought than a stalling Smiler at Alton. I'm sorry - but how can you possibly say that? How are 4 continuous barrel rolls more thought provoking than the smilers raondomness? Colossus was also a clone ride - just with an added corkscrew an...
