Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Yes I agree that whatever is going on with the rapids will not be GDPR related, it just got me thinking that’s all. On our calendar last month we had a photo from Thirteen with a totally random guy sat in the car next to me, makes me laugh every time someone asks who he is...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Hmmm,..I would imagine if challenged, those T&Cs would not hold up - the new rules are super strict and I think they'd struggle justify hiding copyright consent in small print. Having said that, I'm sure that Merlin know what they're doing, the fine for contravening GDPR is as high as 4% a compa...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

You know, that’s an interesting point, I wonder where the parks stand with regards to on ride photos and the new GDPR (the replacement to the data protection act). If you are sharing a boat with another family, and they purchase the image that contains you - essentially the printed photo is ‘data’ o...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

Well on a positive note, a very impressive ride. On a not-so-positive note, horrendous operation today. Initial queue time was 3 hours, then they emptied the queue line. Went back with the fast pass and we waited another hour 15. I was hoping with these being a pretty standard set up in terms of har...

We were just on the final queue section and we got Wicker Man priority passes.

Re: Pleasure Island

I grew up in Cleethorpes and remember when the park was being built - i used to go up onto the bank behind and watch the Boomerang being erected - mesmerising for a young kid :)

Does anyone remember 'The Big Splash' ride they had, it only stayed one season and was were the slides are now?

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Question. At the park today a guest who had boarded the train pointed out a 'loose bolt' on the train, this turned out to be a mis-alignment of the coloured marks that the engineers put on when they do the checks. The ride ops emptied the train, looked at the bolt, sent the train around and then loa...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

It's true that enthusiasts do get a bit carried away in their criticisms, which is no surprise considering they (we) are the most who are the most emotionally invested, but on the other side of the coin there is the general public and on Friday night whilst in the queue for the Ghost Train (not the ...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

Well if they can air condition my local Tesco (which is the size of a small town) then they can air condition that ride building!

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

I do wonder what the problem could be. It's annoying, we visited Friday evening, Saturday and this morning to try and get on the damn thing with no success, it's really sucked up our weekend and left quite a bitter taste.

Re: SW8

Themeing wise, remember this is the same company that built the new London Dungeon. They have the skills within the organisation and can do outstanding themeing when they want to. If the new attraction is based on Pirates or a Mine then they should get good value for money themeing wise as it's not ...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

Well what an utter shambles. Traveled 4 hours (the M25 added 45 minutes!) to the pass holder event and went straight to the the ghost train, as a guest was being led away with blood down the side of his face, after an hours queue outside the queue line we were told that the ride probably wouldn't op...

Re: Ride Downtime 2016

Just thinking about Thirteen - if the switch track was in the wrong position, surely the computer should have stopped the train and not sent it forward? It concerns me that the system doesn't know the position of the switch track and could potentially send a train through the reverse section when th...

Re: Disneyland Paris- Worth going?

That was my fear as we're planning to jam in trip between xmas and new year, but I believe the only major attraction thats going to be closed is Star Tours (unless you're a big fan of tram tours). Apparently the intention is to have Big Thunder Mountain back open for mid December, although that's un...
