Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

No doubt AT Merlin have lost some revenue due too these set backs, At least we can expect a complete and well themed product. Once open it will make up for all of is shortcomings and will no doubt put AT back on the global stage. I've read negative rubbish numerous times from multiple sources "...

88hrs until Full Marmalisation Initiation J01N U5. 5M1L3 A7WAY5. :moj 3days 16hrs 24minutes. #getcorrected EDIT: am I right in thinking that £18 million is relatively cheap for a coaster with theming of this magnitude.... Could it be that Merlin and Gerst have made a deal? Maybe!! Merlin operate a ...

Re: The Smiler - Other Discussion

I've thought of various names too call the smiler mainly when everyone was negative about it (me included) and even thought it's grown on me i still think what would I have called it The Hive? M.A.R. ? Only now, It was there from the start. x-sector, military, code, code names, secrets, abbreviation...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I think we could see some of the Worlds First being to do with the whole process of queuing for the ride up to boarding of the ride. I think they would use the Theme to basically generate anticipation and tension as your waiting to que for the ride. The Game and the Marmaliser screen does indicate ...

In regard too the entrance, I guess it's some sort of lighting with ether compressed air or mist.

Re: what type of major flat would you like to see next?

There's no debate when it comes too best British theme park, however there are a few rides from neighbouring park Drayton Manor that I wish Alton had. 1. Maelstrom (gyro/pendulum) 2. Apocalypse (drop tower) 3. Storm Force 10 (flume/wet ride) [i know its not a flat, but still] + a hot air balloon rid...

RE: RollercoasterGEEK100 "I have to admit, thorpe do do a better job of advertising and adverts... Some of Altons adverts can be cheesy..."

I've always thought ATs advertising as quality, besides these are virals.

Re: The Smiler Train Discussion

I like the yellow with the punched holes, the yellow restraints and the pattern on the back.
If the front looked a little more like Oblivion and that Smiler logo was a little smaller, perfect.

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

Yes deffinatley however I think they should keep oblivions logo on the rehydrator because as you look down the drop you can see it and its relevant but I think they should have a sign in the middle of x sector saying we challenge you and then it has four arrows travel into oblivion left arrow marma...

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

That's the point, it doesn't fit in anywhere, so why should they plonk it over the top of the Rehydrator diluting Oblivion's brand/theme even more! People may say that it's not as bad as fanta, I can agree with you there but at least fanta was orange not this random smiler face that has nothing to ...

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

^Nah, Nemesis looks great. It was designed to have rustic effects for themeing purposes. In your idea of a repaint, how would you have it done? In my opinion, Air needs a repaint the most. When it opened, it had a shiny, bluey-turquoise colour and black supports. Now, the track looks all faded and ...

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

Am I right in thinking that there may well be a new name for the X-Sector? What with tonight's updates, I don't think the Smiler and its' theming will fit in with the secret government/eternity type theme. Just a thought but I think a new name to do with the sanctuary is in like maybe. Also when 13...

Re: The Smiler - Other Discussion

I doubt Oblivion or The Smiler will overshadow one or another, their equality well themed and visually impressive.
Both are terrifying in a way the other can't match.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The problem with the strobe idea is that it can trigger severe epileptic fits. Even if you have warnings, not everyone will know they have it / it's something that can only come to light later in life - and there isn't really going to be a worse place to have an epileptic fit than half way through ...

Re: Alton Towers Roller coaster Changes Topic

I'm going to be realistic and cheap
· Remember the concept drawings of Air and theme elements that didn't make it? Put them in.
· Also Nemesis is in need of some well bloody deserved tlc, Track and station repaint along with some new cars.

Dark Forest is a very different story.

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

The enterprise model is a discontinued one, so it's "replacement" has to be the fly away model, in which case expect it to feature the new gondola and restraint system design. http://www.hussrides.com/typo3temp/pics/b4ad02fa6d.jpg Alton could have commissioned an engineering company to re...
