Re: Funny Things You've Overheard at Parks

October 2013 - Walking into park, past Spinball, which was testing. As, it stopped on first MCBR, some Geordie chav shouts out, 'it's broken down!' May 2014 - On Bank holiday Monday, me and my non-enthusiast friend, went to the park. Whilst exiting Rita, he turns to me and asks, 'Nemesis is the stan...

Re: If you could add one more inversion to ANY of the Top 6...

i would add a zero-g roll to Rita and maybe an Immelmann loop to oblivion. Aaaaaaah! Stop it with all this madness! I can't see why an inversion suddenly makes a coaster for teens and adults only. I've been doing inversions since I was around 10-11 and the height restriction is 1.19m anyway. A youn...

Re: If you owned the Alton Towers Resort, what would you do with it?

I'd be classed as an adult and my price came to £36 pounds? So your figures are way more expensive! No they are not! try reading the website correctly! http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j388/kg4gp/AltonTowersprices2014_zps51c04369.jpg if you pay now on the gate you pay £48 .... my prices on teh g...

Re: When do you think rides will go?

^It would be cheaper to just buy a new coaster, with a different layout, as AT would get a higher attendance at opening season, than they would if 'Nemesis MkII', opened. Here's my predictions  :D 2014-15: The Flume and Sonic Spinball 2020: Nemesis 2025: Rita and The Smiler 2030: Air 2040: Th13...

^The GP don't give one about themeing. It'll go in the 2040s, I think.

Re: The Future of The Flume

Personally, I'd like to see The Flume removed at some point and replaced with something like a Mack water coaster or maybe just a new log flume to fit in with Mutiny Bay. That, or a MAJOR renovation. But, like Pizzazz said, it's highly likely that it won't happen and they'll just keep it the same. ...

Re: When do you think rides will go?

^While a launched flyer may make a fun ride, the forces would be incredibly strong and mixing it with Rita would just make, arguably, the smoothest coaster in the park, rough.  :)

And just think of the cost.....

Re: The Future of The Flume

^Its already been through various refurbishment programs, with the biggest taking place in the 2003-2004 season, to transform it into 'The Flume: sponsored by Cusson's Imperial Leather'.

I think it's time.

RIP Flume (1981-2014/5)  :D

Re: When do you think rides will go?

I dislike Air. I'm sorry but I do. The queues can get ridiculously long. The first drop, twist and bank are great, then the ride falls flat. The uber modern flying theme that looked fantastic in 2002 is now as dull as the ride's faded colour. Although it was my "Blue Peter" coaster as a k...

^Why mention Katanga Canyon? The Flume is in Mutiny Bay, not Katanga Canyon.  :?

Re: If you owned the Alton Towers Resort, what would you do with it?

^I've always thought that where Sub-Terra (coincidently a drop-type attraction) is, they should've extended the ravine and placed a small 2nd/3rd generation Intamin in there instead.

Obviously though, that's VERY unrealistic.  ;)

Re: 10 years later...

I think that Rita will be first to go and could possibly hopefully make way for a new launch coaster maybe a multi launch one or a b&m launched one would be good. If another launched coaster replaced Rita, there would be a few 'problems': 1) If you put another launched coaster in Rita's locatio...

Re: SW8

Without wanting to read the past 25 pages I don't believe that Alton will have another big coaster until at least 2017 now, maybe later, and I believe we're "due" a SW project before then so..... Why? It's already been said by both Wardley and their LTDP, that 2 new rollercoasters will be...

Re: 2014 new uk attractions

^Really? A year or two ago, there were rampant rumours of a Mack Megacoaster, one not too dissimilar to Manta at SWSD, to be installed on the Buffalo Mountain site for this year. I don't really believe any rumours that concern Drayton, at the moment. Or ever, for that matter.  ;)

Re: SW8

I do honestly believe that Alton will get a Bolliger & Mabillard 4D coaster for 2016. However, although the valley is a great place to install a big B&M, it might be harder to get planning permission there, as opposed to say, Forbidden Valley, which is already pretty rammed already though. I...
