Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I really hope I can go this year. The Smiler looks awesome and I have no words to explain it. I can't wait to get corrected on that. It doesn't seem like the special entry (Single, disable, fastrack) was open on the pictures. Did it open later on the day? we were the first lot on, we had to follow ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I could see that the park is placing it on FB and Twitter tomorrow morning. Something like: "Come today to Alton Towers for The Smiler. Smile Always." Or late today after park hours. (if it does open tomorrow.) Many signs give tomorrow as the day but I'm keeping a open mind here just in ca...

Re: Heide Park new B&M

Looks to me like a B&M Wing rider like Swarm. Look at the Station footer it gives it away, it's really big and only one line of track footers in the middle which means normal (non inverted) track in the station. This is just my guess here.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

rctneil over at Theme Park Review is on site and can confirm the entire x-sector is closed off. He was going for the for 2-3 days like some people here. Link here . I think it's funny seeing my post above that with information from here. I don't belief the ride opens anytime soon to be honest...

Re: Re: The Smiler Construction Part 2

I reckon it will be completed with all guests there so they can see the final piece be put in (about time too) so I reckon within 1 hour With that theory I also see them doing it tomorrow (perhaps with press). I really hope it's today but I can't really tell from here. Wonder what they going to do ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Man I'm exited. The last piece of the monster 3D puzzle can't wait for it to fly through the air and land on his place. :D really look forward to a new aerial update now, I mean it must look great from above with the track compleet and the (five legs) Marmaliser.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I think the track is going to be easily completed by the end of this week and then testing by early next week ! Anyone agree ? Cant wait to see this going round for the first time in testing ! Get a real taste for what it's going to look like. I prefer the track work done today or tomorrow. It's wh...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Love the Vertical support look, very odd like all the others. :D
Really looking forward to see more track going vertical, they can do that for some time now instead of supports.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Good to see them so far that they can make the first drop and vertical lift. My guess is that they first do the first drop, followed by the vertical lift, followed by the final turn, followed by the other drop (into the sea serpent), followed by the first lift hill. It just sounds to me as the most ...

Damn, that is going to be one tight turn into the station (bottom left).

The brake within the picture is for the Vertical lift. The final brakes are not shown here.

This one shows the radius better still quite tight though.

can't be the tickler, that had the brushes attached at the studios

Sometimes the assemble things and disconnect them for transport. Even though the ride is short it is unsafe to transport in in its whole and placing it wouldn't be that great either. So the brushes where taken for that

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Im guessing that's the hypnotizer???? Judging by how fast these legs are going up i wouldn't be surprised if the marmaliser is built by tomorrow. Nope Tickler. The 3 arms in order of placement: 1. Flasher 2. Giggler 3. Tickler. You can notice it by the stance of the arms Both Hypnotiser and Inocula...

Re: The Smiler Train Discussion

Does this mean that the design will be similar to two standard Eurofighter trains attached together, or something different? I cannae tell, plus I know very little... :D I think they look the same as I look at the shape. Only difference I guess is the nose is flag instead of pointy. ;) Hope they so...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The Smiler in the snow, anyone? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BGHx_SqCcAEMUG8.jpg:large That is the pic I've been waiting for. It shows the newly built section of the ride, zoomed out, clearly. (The snow is a bonus!) However, the snow has not been cleared in many areas, so it may affect construction ...
