Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

The Smiler opened towards the end of the day, a screw came out of the support rather than the ride itself. So once it was screwed back in and the ride was tested it was reopened. Re: The Smiler over closed season 13/14

Strobe for the flasher tbh, it doesn't do anything atm, it just shows a bit of light and that is it And may I also suggest they do something exciting with the fins (old speculation joke ) You know maybe have a launch on the lift hills, or maybe even a reverse freefall! :D You know what, I hear...

Re: The Smiler over closed season 13/14

I personally think they will add more effects to the indoor part,as it is nothing like the advert, or the game actually. They should add some lasers or some more flashing lights all the way around, and HAVE THE BLOODY LIGHTS OFF! With smoke as well

Re: The Smiler over closed season 13/14

⋅ what will, well, IMO the most likely case scenario is that it'd be on adverts next year 'new for 2014,can take the 14 inversions....backwards?! ⋅ I'd love for them to sort out the vibration on the flooring of the seats in the back, my feet felt quite strange after they had bee...

Re: Is The Smiler as head banging as SAW: The Ride at Thorpe Park?

I found Saw to be really smooth the first year it opened, but after going last year I found it quite rough. I found the Smiler to be much rougher than Saw. I rode it twice to make sure, and it's now one of two rides I'll think twice about going on in the future. To put it in perspective I have list...

Re: Is The Smiler as head banging as SAW: The Ride at Thorpe Park?

A bit jolty in places but not really head banging like Saw. Now Saw is over 3 years old and made by the same manufacturer so what will the Smiler be like to ride in 3 years time My guess is probably dead rough like Saw Saw was rough to begin with, I went on it in 2009 and it was still as headbangin...

Re: Is The Smiler as head banging as SAW: The Ride at Thorpe Park?

I too rode SAW last night (Hey JAMMYD777) and the jolt from the main drop is HIDEOUS. We all looked at each other and were like WTF was that. I have riden SAW over 100 times and that was the worst its ever been. WAY worse than the jolt on THE SMILER. That jolt is ok, and if you brace, you barely not...

Re: The Smiler

I'ts a good ride and has a very short single riders queue i have managed to get on it 26 in one hour and a total of 76 times all together it is a great ride although it does hurt your sholders after repetitive rides. it is a good ride to put your hands up on as i found it does not bruise your arms ...

Re: So has The Smiler topped Nemesis?

Nemesis still feels like a much more intense ride experience, the G force feels higher on most of the ride. The Smiler has a good pace with plenty of inversions and a good bit of airtime over the hump where the on-ride photo is. But Nemesis is still the far better coaster, The Smiler throws you out...

The Smiler has been stuck on the vertical lift hill for an hour now, and ambulance medics are there. Also, they are all being offered water

There are a few cameras in place, however they are not able to record you so far. Maybe in the near future!

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Did notice the wheels are still squeeling around the track and visually you can see the polyurethane on the rear wheels is very worn - unevenly. Get out your popcorn, it's time for stall four  That made me laugh :D You have probably jinxed it as the last time someone said that, it stall...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Do you think they would let me and my two mates on via single riders queue if I explained I have claustrophobia and panic when in large groups?? Unlikely, I know, but is it possible? I don't think you quite understand what a single rider queue is for. You could get a disability pass, where they giv...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

So i've been on the park for the last 3 days and writing from splash landings and i have to say the smiler is a epic ride, yes the transition on the 3rd to last invert is a little rough but once you know about it and brace its no worse then any point on nemesis. And I would say fastracks are a mist...

Re: The Smiler

By the sounds of the cobra roll, it sounds like the last inversion on SAW THE RIDE. (The tight barell roll into a half loop).that is very rough, and is EXTREAMLY tight. Can anyone compare it to the smiler for me?

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Which, when the ride valleyed, the staff we're non too impressed with. As a result, and to avoid any further aggravation, I had to keep a low profile, some distance back from the ride - as well as limiting time in x-sector. The staff were very aggravated all day. But I went right down to the tempor...
