Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

my thoughts are maybe watchdog had a bigger piece to do on the ride, however after todays events and not wanting to look stupid they cut down the section on the smiler and instead did a pathetic 2 minute moan and then moved on.
Fingers crossed...

Time to get corrected?.........

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Maybe its all a gimmick that's gone a bit too far with people booking holidays and things. i can see them announcing an opening date tonight. Just as watchdog start the grilling they respond with: 'we're extremely sorry things didn't go  to plan, we removed the date from the adverts as soon as ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I'll post a review for you. Lol well hopefully queue lines will be tolerable then. Best of luck with your test. I shall also be going up Tuesday after college, the only thing i can see being an issue is all the schools possibly going for the end of year trips which often sees a lot of school kids a...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Anyone know if kids are on halfterm next week? I'm there Tuesday thinking if to pack my lunch for the queue line. Also thanks to the guys taking photo's at the park. Very much appreciated Probably should be fine, nearly all schools will be back then and most on study leave will be back into the sec...

http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af209/Snorlix/Alton_Towers/X_Sector/20130528_161700.jpg Looking at it from that angle, you can't tell that there are bad scrape marks, I just think, leave it, scrape marks will happen sooner or later, and if they occur early, then there is no point painting it as...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

judging by what some people having visited the towers this week are saying, I think they are just making the finishing touches to the ride. Thing is when sub-terra opened it wasn't completed and people complained about the half job they had done, and why hadn't they just waited and opened it when it...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

From to Towers2Go's Facebook page... Because they're the most reliable source of AT info in the world ;) At least its some kind of news. Good news at that. I dont think AT will comment now until they officially open the ride. As for someone posting end of June I think personally this is highly unli...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

It's the resort that looks bad. I'm actually extremely surprised at the lack of professionalism shown by AT. Months of publicity stunts, advertising, it even went as far as a media day where guests were iinvited to the park but couldn't ride. Tv adverts, games. Maybe more should have been focused on...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

All in all this to me is looking like the delay is going to be most the summer... I'm no expert in the mechanics but due to the fault we think we know how much testing, and successful testing will health and safety now require? Also new parts? Fittings? Tweaking of angles on wheels above and below t...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Where I work there is an ex-manager of Alton Towers, who is now the attraction manager of where I work that is just as enthusiastic to ride The Smiler as I am. He asked someone he knows there about the delays etc, and apparently it is due to a stall which was caused by the wheels. Apparently since ...
