Re: The Smiler

I went on Friday for the fireworks. A total of 6 rides in a day with one being in the dark. I can honestly say single rider queues a god send on this ride. waited no longer then 5-10 minutes all day. My verdict has got to be it's my favorite ride. From start to finish it's a fun ride that feels fast...

Re: People Smoking Outside Of Designated Areas

I understand that smokers want to smoke but personally I think it's selfish of smokers to light up around people. I fake cough and make them feel really guilty. I don't see any reasonable explanation why smokers think they have any right to break a rule which Alton Towers have put in place. As for ...

Re: The 'How busy will it be?' Topic

I'm going monday, if ridetimes is anything to go by i'll be fine and apparently theres storms coming this weekend? Hopefully the forecast for monday (light-heavy rain all day) will put most off giving me a quietish day. As it stands, I checked the metoffice website earlier and there is amber warnin...

Re: Fastrack 2013

TBH I don't see the impact it has on the main queue, it only makes it move slower. If there was no fastrack system then they'd just join the main one. Adding to what is, already ma-HUSIVE queues.

Re: Best Rollercoaster in the world?

I agree that America doesn't have the best coasters, yes they're tall and fast but I prefer unusual layouts and something that sets them apart from the rest. For that I'd have to say either The Smiler, 14 inversions itself is enough IMO never mind the intensity, high g's, near misses, quirky theme d...

Re: Queue jumping? Have you ever seen anybody punished for it?

I'd love to see how much longer the queues are with the effects of FT, about 1hr tops per ride. Seriously when I went with school a couple of weeks ago only the adrenaline junkies (like me) bought FT, it was only Rita which everybody wanted to go on that people bought them. And also if you bought a ...

Re: Your fave flat ride

Mine would have to be either: Huss Top Spin at full pelt with LOTS of Hang-Time Drop Towers of any kind, big or small. Sub-Terra being my favourite Enterprise ride A fairground Waltzers, but being spun round really quickly. Not like my last experiance where the OP was glue sniffing !!!!!!! A ...

Riverbank Eye Spy, purely because there's rumours on the forum for something to happen to the farm over the closed season.

Re: SW8?

Just putting this out there. B&M have said they now have the technology ready to do a LIM launch. Seeing as SW8 is strongly rumoured to be a B&M, and lets face it, a hyper coaster isn't really practical with the height restrictions, could we be seeing a B&M launched coaster, and perhaps...

Re: Advice

I would do: Nemesis ERT Air,Ripsaw by 10.30 The Smiler, Fastrack + Oblivion by 11.00 The Flume and stuff (RMT+Rapids) by 11.30 Rita + Thirteen by 12.00 Spinball + Lunch and you're done Get the Fastrack Silver and Fastrack The Smiler however, do The Flume before RMT and The Rapids because they will h...

Re: Arriving early

I would say get there for 8.30, the ticket booths dont open till 9.30 I think, if you want to queue for The Smiler form 9 then your best booking online, there's some big savings there.

Re: Front queues

I think it's stupid aswell, but the front queue for Thirteen never gets used from what I can tell because on my last visit, I asked when she told us what lane she shouted in my face 'NO'!!!!!! i WAS HORRIFIED. It was terrible and I didn't fancy arguing with her. Turned out we got back seats though s...

Re: Should Alton Towers stay open until 9pm during the Summer?

Same as above, but TBH with a 3 hour drive for me it wouldn't make much difference, maybe an hour extra. But now that I think about it they'll be no queues for the monorail at six and no queues to leave the car park so we'd save an hour there too. There's a problem with it though, try to guess what ...
