Re: The Sanctuary

If the maze is closing once The Smiler opens, it would serve as a good piece of backstory for the ride. If no one can experience it after this point it wouldn't matter if it was giving away the surprise elements of the maze. Unless of course they plan to bring it back for Scarefest. It would make a ...

Re: The Sanctuary

Is anyone able to provide a (written) walkthrough for the maze? I am desperately curious to know what happens but unfortunately suffered a 'bit of anxiety' last time I was in a scare maze so couldn't go through it when I was there on opening day. I would love for Alton to do a video walkthrough as a...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Although it has been marketed as a 'jab' of happiness, syringes could also provide a water effect. I know this doesn't fit nearly as well as a back poker but worth throwing out there. Personally really turned off by the idea of back pokers.

Re: Nemesis: Sub-terra (contains spoilers)

I don't like scare mazes so I didn't like this :( It is a 'nice' little experience added to the park though, and I hope Alton continue to maintain it. But does anyone else find the leg 'ticklers' not only easy to see on the seats, but actually slightly painful on their legs? I had to move mine away,...

Re: The Burger Kitchen

The HP BBQ sauce was really good, I'll be buying myself some of that :)

I thought the chips were a bit greasy though, made me feel a bit queasy :(

Re: Merlin to give the UK a new theme park?

I don't think even 'sprucing' BPPB up would change anything, it is a tribute to the naffness of days gone by, and while it could be cleaner and better kept, I don't think there's anything you could really do it to other than knock the whole lot down and build something completely different! I know w...

Re: The Smiler Themed Rooms Discussion

What bothers me is that it's a 4 person room. Surely that will be quite squashed for 4 adults?  (it says it has bunk beds so I assume they intend to allow 4 adults to squash themselves into single beds!) I'd be happier to split the cost of a larger occupancy room. Still, I hope someone does go ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I adore the indoor section of Saw, I hope there is something very similar with The Smiler.

Maybe you get another special QR code to scan if you ride and buy an on-ride photograph?

Re: The Smiler Themed Rooms Discussion

Crikey, I just looked to book one of these for a weekday (Autumn off peak) and they want £337.50!

And there I was thinking £225 for the Moon Voyage room was bad.

Is anyone planning to stay in one of these rooms? Considering I don't have a smartphone it seems a bit pointless for me!

Has anyone here actually been yet?
I'm planning on going Saturday 16th March (depending on queue times)

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

Oakwood makes me feel a bit depressed. Isn't the 'station' for Speed LITERALLY a B&Q shed? I can just imagine the '4 million' being put on the company credit card at Shed World or something. I would have been much happier to read the money was being spent on tidying the park up and making the be...

Re: Thorpe Park 2013: Possible Ride Discussion

I remember when X was the most 'hardcore' ride in the park!
I don't like going backwards but would give it a go if they gave it a retheme.
Someone told me there were shiny gold mannequins in there last season - I don't remember those ten years ago!

Re: THI3TEEN after three seasons:

Again, the unfinished theme makes a real mess of this ride. It wouldn't be hard to put up billboards explaining the theme (Hex style?) Although that itself would detract from the 'theme', casual visitors don't get it anyway so it would surely help more than hinder? I believe that the more riders are...

Re: Horse meat views

When I first heard about all this I thought people were outraged that Tesco were selling 'horse meat burgers' - I've eaten horse before and thought it was tasty so was a little disappointed!

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Thanks for the responses, it's helped clear up a bit of confusion I had over some of the speculation, e.g, 'will it have a vertical lift' (I just assumed it would) and the whole beyond vertical drop thing - stupidly I had assumed it would have one despite that being rather ridiculous right next to O...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I've just been reading through the latest posts on this topic and I saw someone mention that this ride isn't a Euro-fighter (which is what I thought it was). I'm sure this has been totally obvious from the start so bear with me, but can someone either explain or show me a site that explains what act...

Re: New to the forum? Introduce yourself here!

Hi folks, Been lurking quite a bit during my lunchbreak on the Smiler topics, driving my colleagues nuts with all the speculation. Only I could make rollercoasters boring, they've said, which is saying something considering I've no idea what most of the threads are talking about. Fun fact about myse...
