Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

So is the Smiler now running perfectly smoothly? Any late morning testing or closing due to teething problems anymore? Also, is the "dueling" just a coincidence (apparently it does happen when two trains leave the v-lift and the first lift at the same time) or is it meant to be a feature o...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I do, as I've explained I get very claustrophobic in large crowds and the normal queue may trigger this, so I thought that they may let me join another queue because of this. Also, I did state that it was unlikely, and was merely asking if it was possible  If you get very claustrophobic...

Re: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey/ LOTR

Why do people keep asking that rides should be  themed around existing licenses (e.g. The Hobbit, Doctor Who, etc) when creating unique and original themes is what AT does best?

Please leave the licenses to Disney and Universal Studios, we don't need this, and especially not at AT.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Having loosely followed the construction I was under the impression that there was a secret element to the ride that was censored in the construction photos. Obviously what was censored was the indoor inversion part of the track, but I can't understand why they were censored, other than to hide the...

Re: What's the next coaster going to be?

I love the rock 'n' roller at disney, however this is basically rita indoors, so that would be no good. but something else maybe. although a launch coaster is essential really due to height. Ssorry - what?  The only thing in common between Rita and rock'n'roller at Disney is the launch...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

What I've noticed is, if the trains really are so "close to the edge" in terms of making it around the circuit when empty, why are they only half (at most, just 2 dummies at least) filling them with dummies for testing? My pic of stalled train....  http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/54...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Geez, this coaster is a mess! I hope they sort everything out very quickly. It's as bad for AT as it is for the guests. I agree with whoever said that they should just completely close it (and make an announcement about it) until they fully test it - they can then make another announcement to inform...

The Smiler has a 210min queue according to their ridetimes.co.uk... you've got to be kidding me right!?

Now says 150min... I guess it's alright compared to the past days, but it's still way too much for me haha. I would never queue more than 40min for a ride :D

180 min on ridetimes

180min seems to be the "Maximum" value of the displays on the website, since it never seems to go above that.
For those who've been on the Smiler already, is it actually exaggerated or under-estimated? (Or maybe accurate?)

Re: Retheme, Repaint, Rebrand?

Yes that would actually be a good opportunity and a good chance for AT to do it. But they certainly won't do it just for the sake of doing it.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Love how everyone fights over the "it's the train - no it's the track BS". Surely you all have qualifications in rollercoaster engineering. /facepalm

Good thing it's open so, I feel happy for the guests currently on site! :)

Re: Retheme, Repaint, Rebrand?

Let me quote myself from various threads that discuss the same topic: Amongst other threads in this forum, I've seen a lot of people wishing for investments in theming (e.g. the infamous Air tunnel, a retheming of Rita with some "tunnels", etc) but I really think this is never going to hap...

Re: 2015 - Medium investment year

That's exactly what I was saying on the first page of this thread.

Would be nice to tidy up the place, but they will never spend money on these sort of things since the GP won't notice and it's something they can't advertise or market like a new ride, so it won't draw in big crowds.

Re: Has Thirteen got better with age?

I think Thirteen is great. And it clearly is better now that trees and bushes have had time to grow a bit. I went on it on its opening year and it I really liked it, but I was absolutely amazed last autumn to see how much better things got. It is literally impossible to know what to expect from the ...

Re: 2015 - Medium investment year

i'm dying to see the flume replaced with a high end family watercoaster with extensive themeing, although this could come as a major investment in the following year. You're right, I'm dying to see this happen as well, but I think it will count as a major investment / new SW if it ever does. Seems ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Wouldn't have happened with a B&M.... Just saying... ;) I'm sure all coasters have had at least 1 stall in their time between testing and now ;)...... And I have to ask WHY.... why would they run this thing with empty trains :| surely they would've learnt by now :/ What you don't seem to unders...

Re: The Smiler

So, does it live up to its "beast" reputation? And how so?
Or is it just an average ride, at the end of the day?
What about the air time hills, any good negative Gs?

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

It now says "closed" on http://www.ridetimes.co.uk/

Is it actually closed? Technical issue?
