Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Woah. What a day. What a daaaay!!! Well, at 9 we ran to the smiler to queue, but they told us to go away and queue in half hour. So we did. We queued for an hour, but the team said that it wouldn't open until lunch. So, we bought a fast track, £6 each. Not too bad. They were timed for 11:30, but th...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Was gonna propose on the smiler tomorrow.... Is this an omen? Have you let the towers know? They can help out! ;) I was there last month when they stopped the oblivion train over the drop. The whole of X Sector was watching this poor guy...They wouldn't let it drop until she said yes. Think there's...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Even when it's open they get slack. I was waiting at the entrance for the single rider queue, within 10 minutes they were constantly asked the same questions over and over "Can I buy fastrack?", "How long is the single rider queue?", "Why are people going down the fastrack e...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Why are the trims there in the first place if they are not being used? For wet weather? Ice? Could be to prevent a roll-back going back over the lift hill, the momentum would mean a long wait for the train to stop. If i remember there is also a platform along that run - easy evacuation. Also to pre...

Probably someone trying to take a pic of the stalled smiler on-ride - they stop the whole thing for about 15mins if they catch anyone with a camera.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I was there on Friday. There were having lots of issues around 4pm - with announcements to a delay in queuing time, then no trains were dispatched for about 20mins. There was no mention of how long the delay would be and I feel bad for those who gave up waiting. A 50 min single rider queue turned ou...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

It's open!

Looked like its running really slow, and one train with squeaky wheels, all tested empty.

Member of staff said four hour wait, going in single queue later on today.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Looking from another angle, there could have been an unknown fault on the track that became worse as the trains passed over it on the limit of stalling. Hence why they are running slower today - with dummies. Anything such as a well timed gust of wind hitting the train head on while at low speeds co...

What!!!!!

Booked off Friday and been excited to go and it was unexpected to have the opportunity - not going to have another chance now until next season. Not yet booked tickets but its about £40 each.

Might as well forget it and travel to Thorpe park.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I really hope people will stop complaining about the construction workers. For all we know they may be working past their scheduled time and many would have been expecting a holiday. I'm sure a lot also have been working through the night, don't live in the area and getting up at 4am each day. I am ...
