Re: The Smiler - Other Discussion

Oh god wifi, Alton should really restrict it. the amount of chavs that i have seen going round watching porn, some even shoving it in kids faces with their hands down there trousers wells track suits. ( yay! For England ;) ) it's vile. Unless they do an the idiots just use proxies I don't know but ...

Re: Ride Downtime 2013

Wow, Alton Towers rides are starting to become rather unreliable this past year. Rita last summer, Air most the time and Oblivion now :( Can't say I can blame AT for it though. With age comes problems, and unfortunately a lot of Alton Towers rides will soon come to that age when problems become more...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Anyone reckon the crane could be used as some additional scenery? Seriously though, there a few too many theories on here based on prediction and not proof.  A few posts earlier someone claimed that AT experience problems with rides and all the Smiler ones came at once - how can anyone po...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I thought I'd be missing out seeing as how I haven't been on TTF this week due to exams...looks like all I missed out on was MORE valleying.

1st time is ok, 2nd time a serious issue, 3rd time is just plain inexcusable.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

What you don't seem to understand is that the train behaves exactly the same whether it's full of obese people or completely empty. It's basic physics. Gravity affects an empty or full train in the exact same way. Isn't that only when it reaches velocity? Which certainly wont happen. So you are say...

Re: 2015 - Medium investment year

Is it possible that in 2015 Alton Towers invest in a new flat in DF and retheme Rita, and to space this out expand the area out to Hex?

Re: Has Thirteen got better with age?

I found my favourite year to ride Thirteen was late 2010-summer 2011. The ride seemed to run so smoothly and I can't remember having much of an issue with it. However, I was furious with the ride when I went in mid-July. Not only was it packed and like a Monsoon, but the ride delayed for 45 minutes ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Hahaha I'm making the stupid decision of going on the 18th July for someone's birthday. Last week of school term I think. Eeeeeeeek. Are there Fastrack available yet? Enjoy all those school trips :P I'm going to be booking a trip in the next week or so. Not sure when for though. I'm assuming it's g...

Re: Quick Questions

Cheers for clearing that up Lee and Nick.
So I'm right in saying I get unlimited free access to Alton Towers? Or is there a small cost per visit?

Re: Quick Questions

Another little query.
I've been thinking about getting a MAP, but I've never had one before so I'm not very clued up.
If you pay for a MAP, do you have to renew it every season, or could I buy it now and not have to renew it until this time next year?

Re: Messages for John Wardley

John, I can't thank you enough for all you've provided us with. You built the foundations of the Alton Towers we have today. If it wasn't for the likes of Nemesis and Oblivion, we wouldn't have the magical theme park we have today. You've always been consistent and committed to your work, as we've s...

Re: So... about SW8

What about building between the lake and FV? So the station would be where that ugly excuse for a building 'The Edge' is now?

Re: Which Do You Prefer : Air Or Th13teen?

Air edges it for me, and that's because of how comfortable it is. The ride runs really smooth and the padding with the restraints makes it an extremely comfortable ride. Thirteen on the other hand is a little awkward - the carriages are a little too small for me, but they're definitely two very diff...

School trips had started end of May this year. But end of June, early July will be rammed with school trips I'd imagine.

Thanks, might leave it then. Wouldn't have thought they started until July you see.

Re: Quick Questions

Anyone have an idea of queue times around 20th June? I'm thinking about going as a post-exam stress reliever but if its too busy I'll delay. Surely school trips don't start that early?

Re: Tree Top Height Restriction

Agree with all those in favour of the rule. It's formed AT's unique style. At the end of the day, it's a site with rich history which has managed to be preserved as best as possible whilst providing a fantastic day out! Put it this way, the first time I entered through those gates to Towers Street ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Jesus, could climb to 4/maybe 5 hours today at some point! I'd suggest you only go if you're a Merlin pass holder, either you're getting on everything except The Smiler or you're going to spend most your day in a queue. Not worth £42.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Can anyone direct me towards a POV from today or are there none yet? Posted earlier in the thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pH-13BDBOUc Wow...you can tell how great the atmosphere was today judging by that video. Will the flasher inside always be that strong? Looks great but very powerful at ...
