Re: The Smiler - Marketing [May Contain Spoilers]

Advert was just on the tv,but didn't have the date on the bottom of the screen...just height restrictions apply. It's likely they had a "corrected" advert all along, with instructions in the campaign of which of the two to play when - no point in saying "Opens 23rd May" on and a...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

There are most likely sensors on the fins and the bottom of the train to make sure they retract and lift back up at the right time. IIRC one of the recent TS photos show they are mechanically/physically moved out of the way by the train on a special bracket, no electronics or sensors. I assume goin...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Forgive me if this has been done or it's already been discussed, but have they done 'hands up' testing? (Dummies with their arms in the air) I wanna know whether it's safe with all the cables and effects... No, and they wont - they use a separate gauge (a big wire frame) to check for clearances and...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Also, I've seen a few people mention the possibility of dates being wrong just to throw us off. Honestly, these companies and events people don't mess about. If the boxes say they are due back on the 8th, they will go back on the 8th. I think the "due back" date would have since been exte...
