Re: Your Alton Towers Trip Order

Quick march to X Sector in the morning and straight on Blivvy - what a way to wake up! Normally because the park tends to be quiet there if you get a move on. I then ALWAYS (no idea why) decide it's a good idea to walk straight from X Sector to FV, through the middle, and end up with a huge trek thr...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

It's refreshing to see a company be so open from the start. I don't think any fingers should be pointed or any speculations made. They have held up their hands and said "yes, this is our fault". I hope the fine isn't bonkers and I hope we don't see personal psychological injury claims comi...

Re: Towers Loving Care

I shamefully hadn't been for a few years before I went on Monday. 2 things stood out most: 1: There may as well be Zero flat rides. Enterprise and Blade? It stands out like a sore thumb now. Why they ditched Ripsaw and put that stupid 'jump over the poles' thing there I will never understand. 2: The...

Re: Nemesis removal

It's as fundamental to the park now as the towers are themselves. Alton Towers IS Nemesis. People talk about the new rides but Nemesis is always the highlight. I highly doubt it would go in John Wardley's lifetime or at least another 20 years. BTW I was impressed with the repaint. I haven't been in ...

Re: Scariest moments at Alton Towers

The drop on Thirteen did get me the first time, even though I knew it was coming. The most scary was my first ride on Hex when the room starts to roll over to make you think you are going to go upside down while sitting on the bench. All I could think was 'OMG, THIS LAP BAR WON'T HOLD ME IN!'. Obvio...

Re: Early Ride Time 2016

Was there yesterday and was on Oblivion by 09:10. It was a good way to wake me up in the morning but I ended up just sitting down for 45mins after that waiting for Smiler to open. I'd have seen it as much more of a privilege if the whole area was open rather than just Oblivion. Unless you have some ...

Re: Funny Things You've Overheard at Parks

Today at AT: I was just getting off Runaway Mine Train: - Really bored looking kid in his early teens waiting for his mates to get off: "Come on, we've been on this 4 times now and its for kids, I want to go on something scary" - One of his friends: "no, we're going on Rapids again&qu...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

You would be allowed on your own if it was quiet but being the only target in the boat you'd probably get a soaking from the water pistols near the waterfalls. There are a lot of savages willing to spend £1 to shoot at people on the rapids. I wasn't alone in the boat today but I got more soaked from...

Re: Which SW coaster do you think will be removed first

Even seeing Nemmy on that list makes me sad. Yes it's day will come but I think the park love it as much as us. When it's day does come I think they should leave the track there as a permanent monument. It's a work of art in itself and the area should be opened up so you can walk around the whole th...

Re: what type of major flat would you like to see next?

I think one of these Huss jump2 rides themed as an out of control tree would really suit the dark forest https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRLuj9lCY7u_-H5563b8GaKxqgDE4S2-TVx2IJ28KTH0LIwIobd Thumbs up to that. What an amazing idea. I'd love to see a Zierer Star Shape. There was o...

Re: WING RIDER

The more wing riders the better but they aren't very 'compact friendly'.

I think even Wardley himself would be hard pressed to squeeze a winger (effectively 3 times as wide as a normal coaster) into a pit to satisfy height restrictions.

Re: It's official Alton Towers is the most expensive day out in the uk.

The problem with the MAP is I only want it for AT and TP. I don't visit enough to justify it (working full time and the mrs works in education so only gets school holidays off), therefore everytime we visit we have to endure the queues at their nastiest. I find myself trying to justify buying one 'b...

Re: Car park rip off!?

I was OK with the price rises for a long time but charging for parking is ridiculous in my eyes. At TP it is a little more understandable as it is easily reachable by public transport but AT not so much. At AT I think at least 80% of people come by car and maybe 15% by coach. With a UK-wide appeal, ...

Re: Has Alton Towers lost its touch?

It has. But not forever. My reasoning is: - The rides of late have been second rate when compared to TP. - The park feels a bit stale as a result. All theme and little delivery. - I can go to TP and get equally good coasters and far better flat rides with far less walking. - Merlin think it is accep...

Re: funniest thing you have seen at alton towers

I love the concern on some peoples faces. When they keep moving the restraint wondering why it hasn't locked. Then the increase in concern when the train leaves after restrains have locked but there is still movement ;). Funniest thing I saw was a young girl on Nemesis, sitting on the inside? The se...

Re: Vandals/Accident?

Oh no, that's bad news. Sonic is my favourite character there. Last time I went to AT was the first time I'd been with the sonic theme. Me and my girlfriend were waiting in the area next to Squirrel Nutty for the park to fully open. When I saw sonic come over I gasped like a 5 year old child and I g...

Re: PortAventura 2012: "Shambhala" B&M Mega Coaster

Sounds great. I'm going to Spain in October but even now I'm worried in anticipation about Shambhala because despite being mad on coasters, I'm petrified of heights! I'm going mainly to ride Dragon Khan but Shambhala looks incredible, especially the & turn. I'm going to visit the sights of Madri...

Re: Lightwater Valley 2013 Discussion

Thanks for this little review. I plan to head up to Yorkshire during the summer to check out Lightwater Valley and Flamingo Land instead of the usual AT and TP. Can I ask (if it's not personal), why you got wheeled out of The Ultimate? I know it was partly built by British Rail engineers so I'm hopi...

Re: On-Ride Breakdown's Experience's

This isnt really a breakdown but Oblivions hold didnt work, we just went straight over the edge. I had that on Oblivion once. Well the brake stopped the car but it didn't hold it there. Was certainly a shock just being dumped over the edge but it was less painful than being held at the top! I've be...
