Re: What Should Happen Now? (Smiler Incident 2015)

Me personally, I'd jump on it tomorrow if they reopened it, but the general public who don't know about the systems might need convincing. Well that depends. We don't yet know it was anything to do with the system running the ride. In fact it is highly likely that human intervention was the main ca...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Of course there's lots of speculation over what happened here, though the HSE investigation will ensure the truth comes out, but stripping everything away there's really only two possibilities here: - The PLC suffered a catastrophic failure, including it's safety redundant backups (unlikely but plau...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The Big one at Blackpool is a good example. It didn't fail to work, but both the drop and turnaround had to be re-profiled.

Re: Alton Towers - Weather Closures

This is Ashbourne road this evening around 5pm, one of the main routes into the park.
Some of the drifts are 10ft high. I haven't seen it this bad around here for years.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I hope they don't go with a sponsorship deal - really makes rides look tacky. #oblivionfanta

Re: The future of Nemesis vs the Swarm

You have to remember that the two parks are aimed at very different market, so they'll be marketed accordingly.
The idea of NemeSwarm made me laugh, but I assume its OK to do so, with it being a joke!

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

I know it's nice to see an area of the park refurbed (and it goes without saying that the slate grey of Oblivion was long overdue) but are we not obsessing over this a little too much? OK with Th13teen everyone expected an area makeover because along with it came the demise of Ugland and the birth o...

Good call, though I'm sure that's factored into the project/build plan.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Stop mentioning back pokers! I'll hate this ride if it has them Dx I hardly even see a logical reasoning for them, it'd reduce the amount of people able to ride, as people with even minor back injuries would need to avoid it - not to mention that'd it'd probable GIVE people those back injuries. I a...

Re: Hex's popularity?

Has anyone ridden both Hex & Drayton Manor's Veloma MadHouse and which is better ? I know that theres validility to AT's story line more so then Draytons, but I wondered more about the actual ride ?? I've ridden both. In fact I've ridden many Haunted Swings across Europe and Hex is by far the b...

Re: 2013 Season - General Discussion

Just look up at the Skyride pylons. The top half were never re-painted under the DF theme - they still have the Ug Land tree like design. Always bothered me.

Re: Dark Forest Space?

Rita grows on me every year, as does Th13teen.
The space to the left of Th13teen's entrance, where Ug Swinger used to stand does look like an area forgotten though - it'd be nice to see a new flat ride there. Not Robocoasters though; the throughput & queues would be awful.

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

Look at this, they never did paint the underground section theres just a line. Just shows their "attention to detail" I didn't expect them to paint it anyway but leaving it like that is making it abit to obvious to be honest. http://i50.tinypic.com/2e2e0ax.jpg You can see a similar thing ...
