Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Anyone who's ridden The Smiler, how comfy are the seats - i.e. are the restraints comfy, are they too tight, are the seats comfy etc... Seats are comfy. Restraints pinch at thighs but then have a lot of room between your shoulders and the restraint (five inches for me and I'm 5'8") so you can ...

Re: Ma Garrita's Bar snacks

Pizzas were only available after ten when we were recently there, and quality is changeable to put it mildly. Avoid the pasta.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I am yet to ride it, so this is just guess-work based on what people have said, but it seems the two middle seats are the smoothest on each row, and the front row is the smoothest of all 4 rows, while the back is the roughest. ...Some of the trains seem to be rougher than others too. Of course if s...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Now I thought this was maybe to do with either individual trains or individual sections/cars which are not put together as well as they should be / could be. One reply from someone said that it is pretty smooth (except for the well documented big jolt) if you ride the back but that the front is not...

Re: The Smiler

I'll apologise in advance - this is going to be long, and is spoiler heavy! I have basically been living at AT for over a month, watching and waiting, and have been filled by disappointment over the way they have chosen to handle the delays. However... I had booked three days at the park to celebrat...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Wow. What time of day did you start to queue roughly? Did the single rider/ disabled queue open during the day? The single rider did not open today! :) Special access was open all day. Single rider opened slightly later in the afternoon. While I didn't use single rider, it seemed like an effective ...

Re: Rich people hire disabled people to beat queues at disney!!!!

Agree with Chris on this. I like the ride access pass at AT with the queue times, as I can go sit down instead of passing out in a queue, but still wait the same amount of time. It does create a bit of a problem at Forbidden Valley though, where there is very little to do, the three rides listed on ...

Re: Official - The Smiler Opening Meet Thursday 23rd May – Who's going?

Slight alteration on dates: myself and Lee will now be arriving a day early and will be on site from 10.00am Wednesday. Lee is still due to leave on Friday, and I will be staying until Sunday afternoon.

Re: Proposal-

Ok, taking this completely seriously, this requires more information on logistics: Is there a ring? If so, not before, I don't imagine you would want to risk losing it! Also, sending her into a flap before the ride might not be the best idea, it looks like it's going to be a beast! If there isn't go...

Re: Official - The Smiler Opening Meet Thursday 23rd May – Discussion

The opening weekend is also a couple of days away from my birthday, so I'm unofficially celebrating for the four days I'm there. Do feel free to pass the birthday girl a drink and watch me get hilarious. ;)

Re: Official - The Smiler Opening Meet Thursday 23rd May – Discussion

I'm up for a meal on the Thursday night.  :D
I also have a cunning plan (and more than a little help) which means I'm up for getting an early start on the day.

Oh I can almost guarantee you will! I'm sure you'll have a brilliant time, and if you're riding the smiler alone, your other half won't know what she's missing!

Re: Hotel stay 23rd/24th May

Hi! The answers are yes, and yes.  :D I stay regularly and always arrive just before 8am. I pick my tickets up from the reception, leave my luggage for the day (you cannot access your room until 3pm or after) and get to the monorail ready for it to open at 8.30. You will get just the one ticket...

Re: 2013 Season - General Discussion

Regarding staff: I concur, Lee. I'm currently writing a letter about that now. It's awesome having a quite day, but yes, it's a little worrying when it carries on for quite this long. My solo visit at the start of April in freezing weather actually felt a little busier, and it seems to get quieter t...

Re: Duel 2013

A revelation! Yesterday, for the first time since I don't know when, the blasters worked all the way to the end. The photo was therefore really rather good. I don't know whether this was a fluke or not, but I'm really really hoping it's something permanent. Having said that, some of the faces are al...
