Re: Alton Towers: The Lost Back Stories

Cut to the chase- does a backstory make the ride more fun? No. Theme park attractions are there to excite you. Who cares if they make sense.

Backstories are nonsense fodder for geeks to get het up about. Please everybody, just have fun. This isn't Shakespeare's Globe, this is Alton Towers.

Re: Chessington - The Future

Hmmm, it may sound a bit pedantic, but that flashy sign and modern lighting doesn't exactly scream traditional English market town to me...

Bit of a let down really, as they managed to capture the Cornish Fishing Village idea so well with Captain's. Boo, not a fan.

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

Oh, there's always one train in the station on Vampire. One in the station, one in the Workshop. During the winter season that is. It's where they effectively go once being "done". That train is ready to go in fact, loaded with dummies for when that scaffolding disappears. The third train ...

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

Urrgh, it's rather bad when you realise this logo is one of the better parts of the "refurbishment".

The Unusual World of Adventures

Vampire In 2002, the old Arrow trains where replaced with floorless ones from Vekoma. The old ones where binned. The chandeliers sit by the switch track; it is unknown when these will return to the station. The ride's soundtrack, is in fact, not intended for the station. It is assumed to be a versi...

Thrilling Coaster

The biggest problem Chessington have is space... The fact that they hit the walls only three years after opening says it all really. But that's a good thing. Chessington shouldn't be some massive commercial holiday resort, just a small but sweet regional park inspiring the minds of all young childre...

Re: Chessington - The Future

Well, it will be partly removed. :P Some of the more difficult to access sections will be left standing.

Chessington - General Discussion

Rameses Revenge will not be removed. For one, it's got lots of lovey Ripsaw and Garda Top Spin parts to chew up. Plus that thing is pretty much part of the ground now anyway. It would be one hell of a task to remove the ride.

Re: Chessington - The Future

Just so you know, the old Vampire entrance won't be used again, well, at least not as a result of this. They're just cleaning it up and restoring all of the original designs and details. Having seen it in person today, I can say that it really does look fantastic. The black shadows over the cracks a...

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

If you like set dressing and detailed theming props Scorpion Express is a ride you'll enjoy. Though if your just looking for a decent coaster etc, don't go anywhere near it.

It has got a cracking soundtrack though!

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

Oh you should definitely visit Chessington. Its a lovely park with many great aspects. Granted if its thrills your after its probably not quite what you're looking for, but both Vampire and Dragon's Fury are exceptional coasters in their own right. The park is, to put it simply, a nice break for the...

Re: Chessington - The Future

It is true Merlin have installed a ride of this type, but I was unsure of the height restriction, just made the assumption that it wouldbe a 1.2-1.4M ride :) They aren't really going to opt for a Gerstlauer installation in the wake of The Smiler crash now are they. Ok there are two scenarios here. ...
