Have AT stopped doing the parent and toddler deal? I can no longer see this for the main park. This used to be brilliant value.

Re: Best/Worst places to eat in Alton Towers?

Sorry, I am a bit of an old timer. I miss the days when the Courtyard Tavern sold Ploughman's lunches, and 'soup in a bun' meals, and you could only buy alcohol with a full meal. It kept the idiots away and the food was good. These days we would eat at the Pizza Pasta place for its simplicity. None ...

Re: Bad weather, snow, possible flooding at Alton Towers?

I once visited the park and we had a mid summer torrential downpour. All the water hit the tarmac'ed carpark, and ran downhill into Splash Landings hotel. The water was cascading down the stairs into the restaurant. Some bright spark put a plank across the doorway to stop some of the torrent but to ...

Re: Alton Towers Christmas

"Why doesn't Hex open for Christmas then?"

Doesn't quite work with the 'Christmassy, young families, Santa, time of good will' type of vibe I think the park are going for at Christmas.

Re: Alton Towers Christmas

Have visited AT over Christmas several times over the years (including those years when the park itself wasn't open, and all we got were a few rides such as dodgems on the car park). However we had a wonderful time on each occasion. In no particular order:- - You do get a Christmas meal as part of t...

Re: funniest thing you have seen at alton towers

Very early days of Nemesis. The ride staff had a microphone which synthesised their voice, and a loud tannoy system (don't know if they still have this). Someone vomited after arriving back at the ride station. Message through the tannoy (in a spooky and sinister synthesised voice):- "There wil...

Re: The Sanctuary

Enjoyed the 'ride'. Theme is brillaint. Shame Dr K is the only person you really get to meet, could have done with more 1:1 interaction rather than a fleeting visit through each room whilst the actors shout / scream at you. Really wanted this to work badly, because I don't really enjoy many of the r...
