Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Ok, I have an idea for AT.

They should theme the crane, maybe label it the 'lifter', and give it a bit more of a permanent feel....

Re: 2015 - Medium investment year

Would not surprise me  at all if we see the removal of Enterprise and Submission and replacements fitting the Ministry of Joy theme. I think The X-sector is going to get some serious investment over the next few years and a complete makeover to fit with the Ministry of Joy theming. We could per...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I think the smiler queue times will now start to die down, but still be the longest in the park. And the park will still be really busy from now through summer! Cant wait, just 4 weeks for me :D I think you're probably right, especially now many enthusiasts have got on it and had their much needed ...

Re: So has The Smiler topped Nemesis?

Back on topic, as I said before we won't truly know who takes the crown until a couple of years time when the hype has died down :) Indeed, it was a mere point of illustration and not to be taken literally with respect. At this point we'll probably have another Secret Weapon and you'll all be argui...

Re: So has The Smiler topped Nemesis?

Whilst it's easy to get caught in the 'hype' of The Smiler, I think that you have to think about this a bit more (for a start, I think this is a pointless comparison - would you compare the Mona Lisa with Mickey Mouse and ask which one is better? No, because it's about seeing cultural change and pro...

Re: The Smiler

When Alton Towers first announced SW-7, I didn't know what on Earth to expect. When I turned up at the park today, I knew a little what to expect from the discussions/construction/photos/videos. It was nothing like I expected. Following its confusing and frustrating opening schedule, the main questi...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

What Fastracks include the smiler than, is it gold, platinum and then a seperate one for just the smiler? I'm not 100% sure. There weren't many people in the Fast track queue at all. It was quite literally straight onto the ride. So much so that I got immediately back on to the ride afterwards. I do...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

was on Park today and can confirm that they've started selling Smiler fastrack. I'm not sure which tickets include it, but I had a platinum so managed to get on it three times in the space of about half an hour when the queue was 150 minutes!

Wahoo!

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

People can't just book other days off work easily. How can people get a refund if they booked a hotel elsewhere? What about school exams? We should get this trending on twitter more. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BLR2EdoCAAErKVy.png:large For a start, there is no need for a hyper reaction to this pro...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The simple fact is - no one on here has a "right" to know. You are a paying customer. You are not a shareholder in the company nor are you an ops manager in the park. If you don't like the silence, you don't have to go to the park, that's your choice as a consumer, but you certainly don't...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

the beauty of the wheel is that they roll which ever way gravity takes them. This not being able to roll backwards idea is ridiculous. Its a wheel, its round, it rolls. Couldn't be any more simple. Realistically, either the bearings have failed, the urethane covering has disintegrated, or the wheel...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Whats the difference between valleying & stalling? My common sense tells me a stall is when it gets stuck, valleying is when it doesn't make it and then rolls backwards through the track and then forwards again until it eventually rests at its lowest point. (Like a valley) You've answered your ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Public's reaction to this is just embarrassing and classic example of how obnoxious and rude people can be. AT, I'd keep it closed on purpose now. Make people wait.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I have to say, don't know if anyone will agree, but the queue looks a bit of a rush job now. I think we had a situation where H&S decided that the queue line was not safe (whether this was related to the stalled train, who knows...) and so they thought up a quick solution to replace the netting ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

*know.

Teething problems happened also when Tussauds was in charge. Nothing to do with Merlin.
