Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Good. Although irrelevant because Nemesis has has 20 seasons to set this massive, concrete reputation, Smiler has had just over a month. Smiler may become regarded as a classic or it may become one great big headache. But the fact we are able to talk about it this way and yet Air, Oblivion, Rita an...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Oh i will 2nd that comment i just made.... Having looked at the Vertical Climb.... just imagine if that was the same on other side but only a drop that steep that then went into the sea serpent roll, wow..... so yeah you would lose one inversion the inverted corkscrew drop but replaced with a steep ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Well there are only three of those supposed Elements that interact with you. The Flasher, which well i would not even say it flashes and has no effect at all just a light comes on thats not bright at all. The Inoculator well this sprays you with Water but only the front row seems to get it. The Gigg...

Re: The Smiler

Nice review... Yeah the Cobra Roll is a intense one the main problem is as you exit the 2nd half of the roll you do get jolted a bit and i think maybe its the trains and how they interact with that kind of a inversion..... by that The Hulk Rides Cobra Roll is bigger faster and more intense but you d...

Re: The Smiler

So I was at the park Monday and Tuesday as I was staying at the SL Hotel. Queued up from about 9.15am, effects working a few test runs and then the infamous stall. Got our tickets revalidated. Queued up from 9 on Tuesday, got on the ride just before 11. Wow, I love this thing, best ride at AT (yes,...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I would maybe think the Trains could cause some problems?

They are different to the conventional Gerstlauer ones, maybe this could be reasons for Problems?

But then if many seem to be the Lift Hills then there is some problem with those or the Fins etc...

Re: So has The Smiler topped Nemesis?

I've voted other. The Smiler in itself is a brilliant ride - first thing Tuesday morning it was truly amazing... last thing yesterday it was awful, ALMOST as bad as Saw:The Ride @ Thorpe Park. Rough doesn't even cut it, I was actually in pain while riding it. In total I rode it 3 times, first time ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Exactly what I said to them. They said that it said in print on the ticket that they will not supply refunds. Had to leave. We're calling them up tomorrow. I don't know what we can do now. Probably just accept that we've been robbed £12 Thats unfair, and especially at the cost.... i mean if £46 is ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

A question for anyone who has ridden.. Is there any reference to the backstory of the ride in the queueline? TV screens playing videos about the ministry of joy or anything like that? Seems a shame if not because most will not really know what it is all about. As someone already said..... Sadly not...

Re: The Smiler

I really really enjoyed it (went on tuesday). But, after reading reviews on here, i feel a bit let down with the 'effects' -there was no water spray, no flashing lights. There was only the requisite number of operatives, none of the people who chased others up the stairs, no suits at the end asking...

Re: The Smiler - Other Discussion

Oh god wifi, Alton should really restrict it. the amount of chavs that i have seen going round watching porn, some even shoving it in kids faces with their hands down there trousers wells track suits. ( yay! For England ;) ) it's vile. Unless they do an the idiots just use proxies I don't know but ...

Re: So has The Smiler topped Nemesis?

Well YES/NO.... So i say about the Same..... The Smiler the way it looks due to theme and color and wow the track and how close it is to the que line, the Smiler looks Amazing off Ride... You do not notice it much when on ride, due to the number of twists you put through in such a short track space....

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Why is there a discussion about secret elements know the ride is open. Alton towers is a theme park not an ammusement park. A theme park is about themed make believe attraction. Secret weapon attractions at alton towers are about the whole experience not just One element. The station, digital mapin...

Re: The Smiler

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Does the innoculator get you wet?  Was it even working?, not seen any pics of that yet. Are there spiraling lights in the tunnel like the TV advert? Can't wait to ride her ;) Well from reports the area is just been darkened and has mist.... But we have to remember while the ride may not have s...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Yep Tomorrow seems to be the Green Light, and the ride apparently had some Electrical and Sensory Teething problems, maybe this is connected with any 4D Elements with the Marmaliser?

Interesting find... http://youtu.be/IEThZLNkd_8?t=2m43s Scare actors? Yes! Very Interesting this does seem to confirm similar to what someone told me on youtube in February  for those who are interested, a person told me in reply to the Washing Machine that this is a no no.... but the ride has...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I would say that the aim is to distract the Rider, and thus the Marmaliser is not just props hanging from the Marmaliser Legs to give that head chopper factor. If your going around a thrill ride, your mind is going to be on the ride so much for most people that well they may not fully notice the Mar...
