Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

That is interesting about Saw: Alive. Wonder if that means the maze is being retired? If it is it would be a shame to lose it with how detailed the sets are inside, however at the same time it has been there a long time and is probably due retirement. The other couple of things I've noticed is that ...

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

Ultimately I think removing the VR is the right decision. It was a nice concept, but unfortunately it just didn't work in the long run and operationally the ride suffered for it with it having far longer queues that it actually should. What we have gained however is a great theming feature in the fo...

Re: Carowinds

Following the release of the POV earlier this month, Carowinds have now released a new, multi POV, video showing both a forward and backward POV in the same frame: SfLqZEbCHcQ This ride just keeps looking better with every new bit of coverage which comes out! Carowinds opens for the new season on Sa...

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

As much as the VR did attempt to add something different to the ride, if it has been totally removed then in my opinion that will be the right decision. The VR just slowed down operations far too much. Hopefully, if the VR has gone, the ride will be able to return to decent throughput levels like it...

Re: Alton Towers Stargazing Pods - Opening April 12th 2019

Having been able to take a look at these on Tuesday I have to say they are better than I was expecting. I genuinely like the idea of having the 'Village Green' in the centre of the site, and I love the Tipi and feel that in summer the Tipi will be a really nice venue for people staying in both the P...

Re: Liseberg

Liseberg have announced they are constructing their first dark ride for 40 years. Theme Park Insider have reported that the new ride will be located in the Kaninlandet (the Rabbit Land) on the site of the old Children's Theatre. Liseberg's President is quoted as saying that the ride is partly to mak...

Re: Carowinds

Can I go back to Carowinds please? That ride looks awesome, a good mix of elements, and I'm sure the theming that will only enhance the experience event further. I've been really impressed with how Carowinds have marketed and built up this ride. It looks like it's going to be a great addition to the...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

SouthParks News now has a full summary of what we know so far for Thorpe Park Resort's 'Seaon of experiences like no other'. I will be honest and say that my initial reaction was on the negative side, especially given that it also means that there is not going to be a new ride this season. Game FX i...

Re: Busch Gardens Tampa

This looks amazing! I love that Busch Gardens are going all out to transform Gwazi into something that should be absolutely incredible. Whilst we don't know the whole layout yet, there is this photo published by various accounts on Twitter showing the first drop: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D0nIvHKW...

Re: CBeebies Land

I think these are two fantastic IPs for CBeebies Land, and very cleverly chosen too. Peter Rabbit will evoke fond memories from those who remember the original ice show which used to be performed in Storybook Land - many of whom will now have their own young families. It is also a well loved family ...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

When are Merlin going to understand that you can't keep adding accommodation to the Resort theme parks without also adding new attractions to make people actually want to stay longer! whilst adding a new flat ride may not show a direct return, or show obvious value to investors in the same way a new...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

I don't even know what to say to those images published in Metro. Yes, you would expect the Resort to put out something to the press to annouce the gaming event, however these images don't create the best of impressions. I really, really hope the Resort have something else lined up for the summer an...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

This is certainly an interesting move from Thorpe Park, and not one I was expecting them to go with prior to the teasers appearing. In some ways I can kind of understand Thorpe wanting to try and capitalise on the growing eSports market. Holding a gaming event will attract some people who may not go...

Re: SAW: The Ride

Theming wise, this coaster is pretty good - I think it benefits from having the IP as it means Lionsgate hold Merlin to maintaining a minimum standard of upkeep on the theming. In terms of ride experience, I have to agree that once you emerge from the indoor section it is an uncomfortable, at times ...

Re: Colossus

For me, Colossus has reached the point where I'll do it once a season but otherwise I tend to give it a miss. The trains are uncomfortable, and at points it is just too rough to be enjoyable anymore. Whilst it has received the odd paint touch up, it is also in desperate need of some serious TLC. I k...

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

the other option of course is that we theme it for StarGate SG-1, is already got a StarGate, and I would love to see a SG-1 ride. With Stargate SG1 finishing in 2007, and the last spin off - Stargate Universe - finishing in 2011, it wouldn't make any sense to theme the ride to that IP, no matter ho...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

I'm really at a loss with this one. I can't even guess why Thorpe would want to go with this type of IP or partnership. It almost seems like they have either forgotten or are chosing to ignore the fact it's the Resort's 40th birthday - something which could have provided a golden opportunity for eve...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

Whilst there is currently only 1 Rollercoaster Restaurant in the UK, the concept isn't exclusive to Alton Towers, they only licence it from Mack. That means other companies could also licence the concept and open a restaurant - in fact I think there are plans to bring one to the new development in B...
