Re: Thorpe Park - The Future

Hmm. 50m is a height that leaves several options open.  It's obviously not going to be a true hyper but they can still get a great hyper-style ride out at that height, ala GeForce.  But 50m is about 164ft, New Texas Giant and Goliath (SFGAm) are both close to that size, so I could see an RMC of that...

Re: Project 2020

The key points he emphasized on following the issues from Ghost Train are reliability, throughput and ability to market itself.  For me, that says a bloody massive coaster that can be seen for miles, built by a company known for reliability like Mack or B&M.  Whilst I would love a Mack Mega (or ...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

That same company seems to work for Mack too!  Guess that explains Wodan... And yeah, the magnetic anti-rollback would make more sense since it is usually the anti-rollbacks that make more noise than the chain itself.  Does make me wonder: if there's no launch, will it have a USP?  As many have ment...

Re: Europa Park

From the sounds of it they could be replacing it with a new coaster entirely, but with the same building and theme.  Could we maybe see an indoor Big Dipper or just a similar experience to what's there now but with the new Mack Mega track?  Whatever it is, it'll most certainly be of high quality kno...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

I like that logo.. not sure what's taking them so long building it though. Will be nice additions to the park when they're done though.

Re: Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) General Discussion

Don't forget that RMC have already announced the T-Rex track, which is a single-rail coaster with space for two seats per row rather than one, so that will likely be the option taken by larger parks who want a higher-capacity ride.

Planning Summer Trips

Hey everyone! This summer I am planning a visit to a few parks I'm yet to visit as well as a couple I've been to before and was looking for any tips or tricks you lot may have for me. Liseberg (7th-9th June) I'll be arriving at Gothenburg around Midday before checking into my hotel and having my fir...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

I don't remember where I heard this from but apparently the plans for SW8 would have involved a large amount of excavation and landscaping around Forbidden Valley, so this obviously would have affected the budget required to go ahead.

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

but from the multiple I've ridden, they don't make fantastic coasters either. Just out of interest, which ones have you ridden? I should be getting on both my first GCI (Wodan) and my first GG coaster (CuChulainn) this summer (with one of the two being my first woodie in general) so it'd be interes...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

Looks like they're starting to hint towards a theme rather than fit into Mutiny Bay. I'd say the tribal style is looking quite likely at this point.

Re: Thorpe Park - The Future

I think a GeForce style ride would fit in the park, whether by Intamin or if Merlin decides to let Mack have a go at a similar style of ride. Thorpe does need a hyper though. The only thrill coaster they have without inversions at the moment lasts 12 seconds and they lack any real airtime machines. ...

Re: Thorpe Park - The Future

Who said any Hyper coaster has to be a B&M? Intamin are more than capable at building hyper-style rides that are world class without being too tall and I'd love to see Mack take a crack at it too!

Re: Thorpe Park - The Future

I'd personally at least hope for something taller than the big one. The UK's tallest rollercoaster would certainly get people excited! And while it likely would have to be near the back of the park (where the available land is long and narrow), I would prefer something closer in style to Superman th...

Shaman's theme already seems reused from the Colossos retheme last year though.

Re: The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure - 2017

I'm not sure what everyone was expecting - they obviously had to include "The Gruffalo"in the ride name, so some sort of descriptive subtitle is appropriate to accompany it. Sure, IP rides have had better names but if no-one's making a fuss over "SAW: The Ride", I fail to see the...

Re: Thorpe Park - The Future

I've had ideas for a hyper coaster in that area for a while, mainly based on Cedar Fairs recent front gate redevelopments with rides like Fury325. That said, I am wondering what route towards the back of the park the ride would be able to take without disturbing other rides and pathways.

Re: 2016 - A Year In Theme Parks

Looking back, this may have been one of the better years for new roller coasters with multiple world-class rides. That said, it was also a year full of a LOT of delays and late-year openings. For me though, it was the first year I really got involved with the forums and shoutbox, and I'd like to tha...

Tribe of the Rocky Mountains? Please tell me that's a hint for a future attraction, I don't care how much of a stretch it is. (I must admit I am surprised GL lacks a woodie, it feels like the type of park that would have one!)
