Re: Do you yearn for something big thats not a rollercoaster

Yes, any decent dark ride (I assume a dark ride is like the Spiderman Ride at Universal Islands of Adventure). Some form of special effects attraction like Templo del Fuego (Temple of Fire) @ Portaventura. I love roller coasters but it's nice to have something to have a break from them. Inside rides...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

look at the pictures... there were no water dummies, it was an empty train! This is what surprised me; I've seen the trains going around first thing in the morning, they had the water dummies in them. Seems strange to send a train around totally "empty" considering the blustery wind condi...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

That sky interview was terrible, she was using the Anne Robinison method of interviewing. Don't allow someone to answer before re-asking the same question or making a statement as if it was "fact". It's one of the reasons I don't bother watching TV anymore nor having a TV Licence. For Good...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

TheBeast: People in the UK don't have private health insurance (generally, some do), we have the NHS. The park should have public health insurance which I guess would payout in the case of an incident (depends on h&s report). People on the ride who were injured might have some personal life insu...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I thought it was strange that they sent around an empty car when in the past i've seen "test" cars go around with weighted dummies in them. If you go on in the morning this is why the path way is soaking wet near the station. I cannot comment on the response time, 11 minutes seems reasonab...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

This incident is terrible and I hope those who were injured are given all the support necessary for them to recover from it. I expect Merlin Group / Alton Towers to do the right thing here, they can afford to do so. As for the incident itself, on reflection there are aspects that bother me. 1. Clear...

Thanks everyone, I now have a list of all the things that annoys you. I'm sure to quote them the next time I visit "Alton Park" or "Thorpe Towers" :D

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Yes I'd agree, done two days last week (Tuesday 9th / Wed 10th June) the best tactic is if you want to ride Smiler get in the park at 9am and go straight there to queue. After which, ignore Oblivion and go straight to other side of the park for instant walk-on (Air/Nemesis/Rita/13). We did this and ...

Re: So has The Smiler topped Nemesis?

Visited a week ago, two days at the park the 2nd day we decided to go straight to the Smiler when the park opened (9am). After waiting an hour for the ride to open we all walked thro' the pit and I had maybe a 20 mins wait to get on. Personally I didn't like it, came off the ride feeling like I'd ju...
