Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Hey everyone Am making the pilgrimage to Stoke with a disabled member of family. She has problems standing and has a blue badge. I'm not certain from the website what she needs to bring/upload to get access to the ride pass that allows her to not stand in the queue. Could anyone who's experienced th...

Re: Europa Park/phantasialand

I have no knowledge of Germany, but I went to Phantasialand on a school trip. Transport in and out is very good, and the park is excellently themed. If I were in Germany and had the cash I would definately return. Great rides and great themes, though I do question the staff ethics as I had a noseble...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

In a week I'm headed to the resort. We're booked in for a Moon Voyage room as that was the cheapest left, and we're all excited! Is there any big tips anyone has for me to make the most of the visit? Even if just one person said something like "DON'T GET THE ALL DAY DINING" I'm sure it wou...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

My Mother only really does soft rides like Th13teen, Air and RMT when we go to the Towers. She doesn't do well with technology, and I was wondering how the headset was doing in terms of motion-sickness levels.

Is it smooth or jerky? Does it feel fluid or jagged?

Cheers in advance.

Re: Towers Loving Care

tbh I don't see why everyone's complaining. "Ohhhh budget cuts they're killing Alton Towers how dare they." The Smiler incident cut their budget. I would prefer them to cut a few rides and do this TLC thing, which I personally think is a good thing, instead of just ditching Alton Towers an...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Unpopular opinion incoming! Trigger warning issued! First up, I know people have differing opinions, and most disagree with me on this one, but here goes: I would like to see The Smiler theme removed from the ride. Hear me out, hear me out. Since the accident happened, I've always thought that the p...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

I'll give yall a clue about the whole "video" idea: If it's a video, when you turn your head it wont match up with what you're doing. This would result in a "choppy" feeling which is simply not acceptable. If it IS a pre-rendered video, I would be incredibly surprised. The idea o...

Re: Best and Worst Queue Lines At Alton

I personally love The Smiler queue. The outside section could be better, and I would have liked a few different levels, even if just a couple of steps somewhere, just to break the queue line down a little. Nemesis has an incredible queue too. The feeling of the coaster moving the ground beneath you,...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

Does anyone know what pool shoes are? No, unfortunately they're not shoes you can go in the pool with, they're the ones people use to isolate their shoe, and all the muck on it, and the poolside, and the lovely 'clean' water. Alton could easily have a bunch of cheap-o single use tissue style eye pro...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

I have no idea if anyone's posted this already, but I did some deep web searching and found this website:

jk it was on the Alton Towers website. Enjoy!

Re: Planning Application for Enhancements to Air

IMO they could leave the front row open for people to choose to have a normal ride on Air, and have the other queue for Galatica or wherever it's going to be named.

Rather interesting approach to informing people about this.

What do you guys think it could be all about?

Re: Planning Application for Enhancements to Air

As for the new coaster which planning permission was submitted for, I'm quite happy about that, as well as the re-opening of The Smiler. Hopefully it'll restore some faith in the public's view of Alton Towers. They haven't submitted a planning application for a new coaster. Earlier last year they r...

Re: Planning Application for Enhancements to Air

The level of salt from some people in this thread is incredible. Merlin is a company. Companies cater to the general target market. Enthusiasts make up a very small percentage of their profits, thus it doesn't make sense from an economical stand point to cater directly to the enthusiasts. Instead, y...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Despite what people say above, the 'clinical' feeling was the 2nd thing after the laughing soundtrack that I thought of regarding peoples offence of the ride. Just another afterthought, but I would feel it would be fitting on the same day every year since the crash for either The Smiler or the whole...

Re: What Next for Alton Towers Resort?

Honestly I wouldn't be amazed if they extended cbeebies land further towards Sonic/spinball/whatever it's called now. Whenever talking about the park, it seems to be the forgotten middle child, as such I believe it could be pretty easily removed, replace or rethemed. The scary part is, that wouldn't...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Gloves, not the foggiest clue.
Ear plugs is a simple enough matter. Nemesis and Oblivion are both rides which
A. Make a lot of noise
B. Stir up a lot of wind/pressure

By comparison, the other rides are much quieter and don't effect the human eardrum with pressure in any way.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Thinking about the batwing, is it possible for mini "boosters" to be added after the trim brakes on Gerestlauer infinities?

I mean, you could just lower the trim brakes, but then you run the risk of being too fast. Idk, I'm just obsessed with the idea of boosters.
