Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I remember that when one of the trains stalled on the batwing element the first time, it was because a computer error had activated the trim brakes on the hill preceding it. It doesn't seem unreasonable in the slightest to suggest that this happened for a second time, although one does wonder - if i...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I've scanned the previous pages of this thread so I hope I'm not repeating anything (or at least not too much :) ) Yes, this will affect Alton's reputation, but only in the short term. I think it was a BBC News article I read? They interviewed Lyndon Simkin, a 'professor of strategic marketing' abou...

Blackpool Pleasure Beach - Late July 2014

Hi all, Going to BPB late July this year. My assumption is that it shouldn't be too hectic as it's about a week after the schools break up for summer. I'll be going with a group but they're all thrill seekers who love rides ;) The last time I went to BPB was about 3 years ago, where I first became a...

Re: TowersTimes - General Feedback

I didn't know quite where else to put this...

Feedback from [email protected] ;) Had no way of getting there sadly. Will the Q&A session with John Wardley that happened at [email protected] be uploaded to YouTube? I'm hoping it was recorded as said? :P

Re: New B&M Dive Machine - Gardaland - Opening 2015

There was an update on this on Theme Park Worldwide, but there hadn't been that much to say. It will probably be similar to Krake at Heide Park like what has been said.

Has there been a dive machine with 6 across seating yet? I don't know of one :P

Re: Honest Merlin Opinions

"nobody is making you go to alton towers or other merlin attractions" If you think it's over priced then don't go, simple, go somewhere that you can afford. The point is though that people have gone to AT / been going to AT long before the price increase. People still buy fuel for their c...

Re: Oblivion Floorless

I just think it would help Oblivion look more 'modern.' With The Smiler right next to it, and the station building... it just feels kind of old to me. I know it won't happen and it would affect the dispatch times, but the futuristic-y feel of the floor dropping, and the front gates opening would jus...

Re: SW8

There should be some kind of attraction(s) for the age group in-between small kids rides & thrill rides. Yes, there's, TH13TEEN, but there's a jump in age group where you have Cbeebies Land for children, and then realistically only RMT & TH13TEEN (if you could be eventually convinced to go o...

Re: Definitive Smiler Opinions

I'm pretty sure this was the first Infinity Coaster made, and I guess they thought it would be the same kind of stuff they'd dealt with at Thorpe w/ Saw, but the downtime was one of it's most substantial drawbacks. I know it was also an extremely last minute decision. I think The Smiler is one of th...

Re: Definative Smiler opinions

The Smiler was a good addition in my opinion. Everyone has only talked about the ride itself, and what I love about The Smiler is also is the other stuff! A proper shop! And a shop that's had effort put into it! For the first time since Air come to think of it. The detail in the shop is great as wel...

Re: Closed Season 2013/2014 - Photo Of The Day.

A zoomed in shot of the towers. I think this was in the gardens somewhere? I took this in-front of a tall white structure kind-of-thing. Taken with an iPhone 5, Summer 2013.

Re: The best UK theme park

I guess Drayton Manor has Thomas Land which is themed, Flamingo Land has Dino-Stone park (which is pretty much its only major theming), so I guess they count. Blackpool Pleasure Beach.. meh, the fountains are nice.  ;) My votes: Alton Towers for obvious reasons; BPB because it's one of my favou...
