Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

So they're 3-4 years into the "5 year plan and we've not even seen the first new investment? (Unless Neverland was in it). :lol I feel like Oakwood could be a great park, the only thing which lets it down is the operations. Neverland was the first new investment of the current owners, which th...

Sorry to dig up an old thread, anything new for 2016?

Supposedly their Sleepy Hollow investment, which has been "opening in summer 2014", "opening in 2015", "opening in summer 2015" and now "opening in 2016". I'll believe it when I see it! :lol

Re: Hobs Pit 2015 and beyond (at Pleasurewood Hills)

Hobs Pit is fantastic, I was really surprised by how good it was when I went on it a few weeks ago.
There was only one actor in the ride section when I went on and a few more in the station/walkthrough sections, but the ride doesn't really need them IMO.

Re: Quick trip to BPB - 15/2/15

The bars in the ground are footers, which the ride will sit on, without them it wouldn't be able to be installed!
Wild Mouse and Steeplechase are both completely safe.

The inside theming of Sub Terra on the inside matches Nemesis, but not on the outside - it's a metal shed.

Glad to see that Boating School is having it's capacity increased, as it was dire.

Re: Chessington Tomb Blaster Incident - 07/05/12

Apparently the fence plank had just dropped, and staff were already on their way to fix it. Yes, the fence could have been maintained better, but it was one fence plank, easily missed. The girl's parents should really have stopped her from running too far ahead and too far to the side tbh. I'm symp...

Re: Fun City Brean

Hi Jamie, I can confirm Speed Wave has been sold to James Mellor and was shipped to Dubai in August/September 2014. It's now operating as part of "Fantasy Island" in the Global Village. A video of the ride in it's current location can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHtrIJvg...

Do Fun City, Brean still own Speed Wave? As I'm sure I heard somewhere that it had been sold, but it's still on their website?

Re: African Adventures 2015

It's good to see this event returning. I expect that Bubbleworks and Hocus Pocus Hall will be operating, and it would be nice to see some other rides open (maybe even a coaster)? Tomb Blaster is also likely although it is in desperate need of an overhaul so if they are actually bothering, it might n...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

It's not a sale at all as far as renewals are concerned. I paid less to renew my premium pass back in October this year than the current "sale" price, so it has actually risen.

Re: Alton Towers 2015 February Half Term Event

If it's extensive maintenance/repair work then I'm not sure Merlin would appreciate photos of a coaster that isn't even 2 years old yet being fixed. Yes but regardless of how poorly manufactured a ride is, it still requires winter maintenance which will cause it to look different to usual. I don't ...

Re: Rides you want to see go.

Rita and Air. Rita is just dull and boring (unless you are in the very back row on a good day), and Air is boring unless you are in the back, where it verges on being average.
In my opinion of course!

Re: Alton Towers 2015 February Half Term Event

Imo, the lineup is pretty bad (apart from Nemesis of course!) because they basically used the same lineup as this year. I was expecting Oblivion to be on the lineup but obviously not unfortunately! If The Smiler is undergoing extensive maintenance work (which lets be fair is pretty certain) then I ...

Re: Queue jumping? Have you ever seen anybody punished for i

Queue jumping is wrong on so many levels (Fastrack included in this). I've seen it happen so many times this year (at Thorpe in particular) and staff seem to do nothing about it these days - back in the old days they would have been escorted off the park, but I have seen people tell staff about queu...

Re: Feb Half Term 2015

..... The same Braniac Live event was on at Easter last year, and there was no extra charge then. Which was during main season, with Thorpe charging their full prices. It wasn't billed as an out of season special event. With regards to Nemesis during FHT, it can vary massively. It's either one or t...

An annual pass is an annual pass, and adding all these extra fees on top is not acceptable, and also very underhand.

Re: What Rides Freak You Out?

I was freaked out by Valhalla as there was some little rocks falling on my head, only to find out it was a bunch of really socially unacceptable teenagers sat behind me throwing pebbles in the air on the rides and it hit me and most other passengers on the boat, only for me to find out it was them ...

Blackpool Pleasure Beach - 25th - 31st Oct and 1st Nov PTR

Wow, what a fantastic week! We spent 8 consecutive days in Blackpool Pleasure Beach, arriving at just after 10am and staying until park close every day. This equates to a total of 76 hours spent in the park! In fact, the only break we had from the park was one morning to visit the Tower and watch th...
