Re: Stealth

Was at the park Tuesday 16th and despite announcements saying it would open at midday Stealth remained closed all day. Maybe it will be back in operation today (Wednesday)?

Re: Chessington - The Future

Getting really tired of the IP’s to be honest. I was disappointed when they changed Bubbleworks to Gruffalo but then again I haven't been on Gruffalo so can't really comment. I understand IP’s are good from the park's perspective for marketing and that but in terms of longevity perhaps not so much. ...

Re: Rate the Rollercoasters (2018 Edition)

My (rather late) contribution to this thread:
1. The Smiler
2. Oblivion
3. Nemesis
4. Thirteen
5. Spinball Whizzer
6. Rita
7. Galactica (though haven't ridden it since the Air days)
8. Runaway Mine Train

Am still yet to experience Wicker Man and Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure (!)

Re: The Future Of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory; The Rid

I am hoping for an original idea to replace Charlie, but chances are it'll be another IP. I preferred Merlin parks when they weren't overrun by Angry Birds, Cbeebies Land and the Penguins of Madagascar...

Re: How old were you when...

My very first coaster, as far as I can remember, would be the Runaway Train at Chessington, aged around four, followed by Vampire at seven, and Dragon's Fury and Rattlesnake at ten. My first upside down coaster (excluding Turbo on Brighton Pier) was, I think, Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe Park aged elev...

Re: Ride you have queued up for the longest is?

At Towers, it would be Rita, at 45 minutes. At Thorpe Park, Colossus, at 150 minutes (times board claimed it was 90 before I unknowingly entered the queue... I was alone, without my phone or anything. Worst 150 minutes of my life.). And as for Chessington, it's Vampire, at 120 minutes (times board c...

Re: End of year trip

There aren't really many 'big' rides at Chessington, to be honest, in comparison to Alton Towers and Thorpe Park at least. I've been going almost every year since I was quite young (it's quite close to where I live), and nowadays when I visit with friends, we usually go on Dragon's Fury, Rattlesnake...

Personally I like riding Oblivion or Rita straight off the mark, as they're two of the best rides to wake you up for the day ahead. :)

Re: The first time I went on ...

Just a rough estimate here, seeing as I can't really remember the specific years for when I first rode most rollercoasters, but I'll still give this a go. It will just be Alton Towers, Chessington and Thorpe Park coasters though. Also, I must add that my first visit to Chessington was in 2004 (I thi...

Re: Best/Worst places to eat in Alton Towers?

I was wondering whether anyone here has had the gluten free pizza at the Pizza and Pasta Buffet in Katanga Canyon before? I didn't realise they catered for coeliacs there last time I visited, so I ended up just nibbling on some chips at the Burger Kitchen. I think it's great that they offer gluten f...

Re: The 'I Feel Down' Topic

Thank you guys, that really helped. Unfortunately I was one of the last people to get picked to perform, so I spent almost the entire lesson worrying. When I got up and stood on my chair I was pretty terrified, but I just threw myself into it really quickly to get it over with. I ended up bringing a...

Not particularly 'strange' as such, but I have ketchup with everything... Within reason of course. Although ketchup cake does sound rather delicious. :)

I guess I should consider myself lucky then- I've got The Blade and Hex if we're talking Alton Towers rides here.

Re: General Chessington Discussion

Happy birthday Dragon's Fury! Along with Vampire, it's the more modern of the two coasters that both truly brought Chessington to its current glory. Funnily enough, Dragon's Fury is actually only nine days younger than my brother, which is pretty cool. I guess I'll be celebrating both birthdays this...

Re: The new number grading system

ILC, I'm also in the same year as you, and I agree that the new grading system is a complete pain. We still get grades like the ones Tom showed for our end of term report cards, but it's going to be annoying having to be the first to try out the new GCSE system. It's all pretty confusing to me, and ...

Re: Submission replacement

Poor Submission. :( I never got to ride it, which is a shame for me. As Tom has stated, I don't think it would be replaced by an arcade or food outlet, as X-Sector is a pretty small area of the park in comparison to some of the other potential sites for new arcades/ food outlets which would benefit ...

Corkscrew, as I never got the chance to ride it, and it seems like it was kind of the 'original' Alton Towers rollercoaster, in my opinion at least. :)

Re: What Are You Looking Forward To Most At Alton 2014

Visiting Towers again for only the second time ever! It will be my first stay at the Splash Landings Hotel, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares to the Alton Towers Hotel, where I stayed for a night last July. I'm visiting for one night in April, so unfortunately CBeebies Land won't be o...
