Re: Favourite Merlin Attraction?

Same here. I certainly doubt it won't be a theme park. Defo thorpe or chessington IMO. My fave is the Dungeons by far

Re: Favourite Merlin Attraction?

I admit that it was Avery difficult decision for me xD thank god for the annual pass! I chose the dungeons as the original London , edinburgh and York dungeons hold a large amount of nostalgia for me :)

Re: Favourite Dungeon in the UK and why?

That's a shame, as it could be so good set within a real castle as opposed to a purpose built set. I suppose that perhaps because of this, the attraction suffers due to space availability and other restrictions. The Blackpool Tower dungeon is also affected by this , yet not to the extent of Warwick....

Re: San Francisco Dungeon to open in 2014!

The first pic of the new dungeon is now on the Dungeons site. Looks pretty good, and more classic dungeons style rather than the blander stuff from 2013. Looks pretty goods made exciting!

Re: What ride would you like Thorpe Park to remove next?

I voted for Zodiac. I don't know why but I feel it just doesn't fit in with the 'Nations Thrill Capital' slogan. Totally agree with you there. These rides were surely thrilling and exciting back in the day when they were installed, probably at the height of technology. They're ok as family rides bu...

Re: Winter maintenance

Let's hope The Smiler has a better year this year! And Duel has definitely had some maintenance. It's a shame about the lights. Sometimes they highlight the steel roof which detracts from the otherwise great theming and atmosphere.

London Dungeons Discussion

I am visiting in April, although the new adverts look dull and boring, with the website cringeworthingly attempting to be laugh out loud funny rather than the subtle gallows humour of the original. Seen as it has been a year since the original shut it's doors, has the new managed to grow some of the...

Re: What ride would you like Thorpe Park to remove next?

In the last ten years as they grow and develop  merlin stopped caring about theming and guest experience. Look at the newer dungeons, the theming looks so false. Storm surge caters for family audiences which means more potential for the park to increase profits.

Re: Favourite Dungeon in the UK and why?

I have to say that on repeat visit, the Blackpool Tower dungeon leaves a better impression. The main issue is the bare black ceilings that contrast sharply with the detailed theming on the walls, as well as the bare corridors between scenes, especially between Plague and torture, Torture and Court a...

Re: What ride would you like Thorpe Park to remove next?

I totally agree. A little theming would not go amiss, especially if it was blended in to hide that ugly scaffolding like support structure. This,at help wig the agonizingly boring lift hill climb that takes longer than the actual ride.

Re: If you owned the Alton Towers Resort, what would you do with it?

I agree. I would definitely up the fear factor on Thirteen and NST. Although I think Rita could still have a home at the towers just not where it is now. Refurbish Nemesis Retheme, Refurbish And Extend Air Refurbish And Extend Sub Terra Build Another Ride In Forbidden Valley Remove Rita Refurbish An...

Re: Favourite Dungeon in the UK and why?

I've yet too experience both. I loved the original dungeon but the new and manufactured feel is off putting. I remember the use of old exhibits and mannequins in between scenes that really gave it an atmosphere. And the new marketing and website? Please... Since when did the Dungeons use the word 'L...

Re: What ride would you like Thorpe Park to remove next?

I agree that samurai should go but not be replaced with a star shape. I'd much rather see a flat ride added to Saw island, maybe an ABC horror tower. http://www.abc-engineering.ch/cms/front_content.php?idart=54 If Thorpe didn't already have detonator, it would be great to have a saw version of extre...

Re: What ride would you like Thorpe Park to remove next?

Remove depth charge and Neptunes beach and have a nice gerstlauer spinning coaster there. Personally, I'd like them to retain the Atlantis theme and install a water coaster, or even have a dive machine similar to Krake at Heide Park. Although a Water coaster like Journey to Atlantis at SW would sui...

Favourite Dungeon in the UK and why?

Which dungeon do you think is the best? Based on scenery, shows (each dungeon has at least two 'local' shows), acting and general atmosphere. I feel that the Dungeons now feel manufactured, for example Blackpool has some detailed theming, but it doesn't have the authentic feel of some of the other i...

Re: When do you think rides will go?

It's easy to forget how old these rides are :- Nemesis is in it's 20th year, oblivion it's 16th, Air it's 12th. All Worlds firsts and sadly probably getting on for halfway through their lives at Alton towers. If Nemesis did age so much it needed t be replaced, I hope they would essentially reconstru...

Re: What ride would you like Thorpe Park to remove next?

Tbh Thorpe don't need to remove rides yet. They still have room to build. It is true that Thorpe have plenty of space to build, however it would be nice to see some flat rides replaced. Especially when they don't particuarly have much going for them. They could save the plenty of space they have fo...
