Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I'm not laying blame, nor am I aiming this at just the smiler, from an engineering point of view it surprises me that almost all coasters are not designed with an incident in mind. This was a relatively low speed incident which resulted in pretty horrific injuries. im not sure how a 90 mph crash is...

Re: 2017: New Attractions

For what its worth from a commercial point of view it makes lots of sence to add to cbe...

Re: The Next Big Attraction

On a update version of the park map they renamed the area loggers leap in as old town they also removed the ride off the map and listed area under development so this looks like the next big ride for Thorpe park in 2018. My understanding is that loggers leap will reopen next year / 2018 with a refu...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

I'm guessing on a 1st July opening if the 16th doesn't happen it seams that their is something that really doesn't work they first thought that it would take a few weeks to sort a month on and its still not happening ... I think it points to the VR as the rest of the maze will be using standard magi...

*drum roll* http://i.imgur.com/5mPLOwf.jpg All trains are now inside! :D That looks like a platform and or lift of some kind where the v parts of the metal work meet it could also be a piveting wall if you look too the left of the v and above the strait you can just make out a rail of something sat...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

They had no choice they had to pled guilty or it would have been a long public court case and merlin don't want that A Large fine is subjective they were fined 150k for the tomb blaster fall and 490k for the death at warwick castle so a large (the above giving an idea ) fine is coming but that compa...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

The problem with the VR on Galactica is the display tech, the HTC Vive is an entirely different ball game: with a high resolution and an uncanny spacial awareness due to the quirks of the system. The VR should be top notch using that system, and as it's aiming for psychological rather than kinetic ...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

I'm starting to wonder if the vr format will make it to the end of the year the probems with the system seams to be getting bigger

Also has it actualy been confirmed that they will produce new vr destinations (content) or is the only thing that says more destinations is the posters at the ride?

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

I said a long time back that it's not going to have a running train and that it's going to be walk through. The monster scare video shows that I wasn't far off, but there is some train part. As Lewis points, out there is a train front so here is my new idea; you enter the suspended train and it's a ...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

As I said last week I'm not sold on the vr its immersive yes not being fully rendered makes it not so good (the black corners) you kind of forget your on a coaster after the first drop .... is that a good thing or a bad one ? Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

I guess I'll wait until it's quiet until I go on it then. Maybe they'll give me a bit more time to fiddle with things. It may not go well with my Autism though. Hm. I will go on it though, even if it is only once with the head set. I am sure it will get better as they keep tweeking it and loading w...

Re: The Future of Sonic Spinball

Do you think it could go to Legoland and rethemed to fit in there? It's not a young kids ride thats why it doesn't fit in where it is any more so again its not suitable for legoland and Chessington (the next age group up) already has a very similar ride I think over by Charlie would be better or in...

I also can't see them spending a fortune to move the ride from one area to another as they would not gain anything.

They gain more space for more childrens bbc related things but keep a good ride that would fit in better else where on the park

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

A few thousand would be doing very well i think the fact I they pushed every one in the correct direction dose make it look like the original no of entry's was very low
I think less than a thousand is more realistic
