Re: Past rides: "Where are they now?" The Guide

Thanks Paws. I think you must be right about the Bouncing Bugs, because had Alton Towers got them still, they probably would've made an appearance in CBeebies Land, themed around the yellow creatures that make the logo. Gosh I didn't know the Double Inverters had become that unpopular. IMO great to ...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Gladly Lewis. Firstly, I realise I should've put the word "apparent" before the break system, because after the initial Facebook post, I realised that most rollercoaster trains do not have this system which was reported in the media (inc. BBC), and this of course was of course mentioned on...

Re: Past rides: "Where are they now?" The Guide

Great post Paws. It's so good to see the Black Hole and Thunder Looper having new homes and new colours. Does anyone know whether Alton Towers still has the Bouncing Bugs in storage, or whether they were sold?

Re: Ripsaw (and Blade) to be removed?

Doesn't surprise me and follows on from Submission's removal last year. For me, Alton Towers' attitude is rollercoasters first, flat rides second.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I've been busy working these past few weeks, although I have been dipping in and out of this thread, among many others on Towers Times. The following is based on a Facebook status I put up when I heard about Leah Washington's amputation, and it still represents my views on this awful tragedy, even t...

Does anyone know what has become of Submission and do AT still have the Bouncing Bugs?

Re: SW8

Well this is interesting news! Part of me is slightly surprised that they've chosen site SW8 in Forbidden Valley, but then again part of me isn't, as it seems fairly logical. It'll be interesting to see what the plans are and how it'll interact with the rest of the area. Will AT use SW8 to get rid o...

Re: Duel: Retheme, Replace or Remove?

Oooh tough one. Well I have always liked Duel; the interactivity, the theme and of course the brilliant music, and because of that I do enjoy riding it. I never went on the Haunted House, although I do remember the outside and the Witches' Cauldron etc., so I am not in a position to compare and cont...

Re: Future Plans for the Towers themselves

Been a long since I've posted on here properly, but it's been good to see the various AT discussions. In terms of the restoration of the Towers, I would love to see the main parts (such as the Banqueting Hall) restored to their former glory inside as well as out; with part of it and other areas give...

Re: Alton Towers: What Ever Happened to...?

I wasn't sure if AT still had them in storage or sold them. Had they stayed I am positive they would've gone to Cbeebies Land. They would have kept the name but the "Bugs" would be the yellow creatures that are the mascots for the TV Channel.

Re: Submission to be removed

Just seen a video of Alton Towers in 2014 and they have just filled the space with turf. I must say to does look rather nice and a good spot for a picnic area, or more realistically a place to recover after being spun, plummeted and corrected! It says to me that AT have no forthcoming plans to repla...

Re: Coaster corner?

That would be good too. A disco coaster would also work at Adventure Land. Would Spinball work in Coaster Corner? Providing that AT build sound barriers.

I liked the Railway, I'm sorry it had to go. Anyone know what happened to the Bouncing Bugs and Lava Lump?

Re: When do you think rides will go?

I notice on this thread NOBODY has talked about the future of the dwindling flat rides. I am positive The Blade will either go or be relocated, before Rita goes. The same will happen to Ripsaw, if it isn't given a major refurbishment and repaint over the next few years (It'll be 20 in 2017). Enterpr...

Re: Coaster corner?

Totally agree that the area should be brought back into action, especially as other parts of the park are running out of space. Ideally, I would love to see Corkscrew, The Beastie and Thunder Looper rebuilt in that area. What I'd do is build some high sound proof walls, which you usually get around ...

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

I am glad that this thread has been put up, as I enjoyed reading all the various comments about Nemesis: Sub Terra, as well as the various ways it could be improved (e.g. varied ride sequences, integrating it more with Nemesis in a baby-parent bond way, so Sub Terra is the precursor to the great rol...

I agree and if they did remove Enterprise, then I think the site would be perfect for an S&S Mumbo Jumbo ride.

Re: The Future of The Flume

When does the sponsorship run out with Imperial Lather? The Flume is a good ride and is very popular, but I agree it does need some TLC and perhaps a tweak to the theme; i.e. make it blend in with pirates. This could be done having the ducks where eye patches, "ha-ar me hearty" tannoy anno...
