Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Surely a child wearing a t-shirt with an implied sexual slogan is much, much "worse"/more inappropriate than children wearing "revealing" clothes. They're kids ? And if they really do market "Ride It" t-shirts to men and "Ride Me" t-shirts to women, it's incre...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I think it's less covering it up, more wanting to change all/some theming because it could now be seen as inappropriate (Smile Always, Get Corrected, the medical-looking parts of the video and the syringes, etc) If they changed it some reporters might try to spread it as them covering it up, but it ...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Wow, they wrote that article so fast there's a typo in the first sentence.

It does seem to be dying down a bit, though. It's a shame the Mirror doesn't appear to have a comments section on its articles; I'd like to know what their readers think of them.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Yeah, that's what I meant, thanks for wording it better :)

I don't think that many people actually take the articles as truth, though. A lot of highly rated comments on the articles are calling out the papers for scaremongering/publishing drivel.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

A woman in the second row initially got a taxi home after being evacuated, but later went to hospital with abdominal injuries and blood clots. "Chanda Chauhan, 49, from Wednesbury in the Black Country, who was sitting in the second row of the Smiler, was admitted to Walsall Manor Hospital with ...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15"

Anyone with half a brain could look at the Octonauts coaster in the pictures/videos and realise the story is scaremongering. I'm pretty sure the only thing that's happening as they run that story is that people are starting to notice how far the scaremongering is going, from most of the comments I'v...

At least it looks like most of the people who commented on those articles aren't having any of it.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

At least the Mirror included a picture of the ride. Surely anyone who knows what the ride is would realise the story is scaremongering.

Why even go to a themepark if you're going to freak out at a very small ride having to be evacuated because a kid got scared?

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I'm not sure anything can be done about the articles based on visitor comments.

The number of papers that mention that Leah's family want privacy while splashing her story across the front page is just horrible, too.

Re: Do you yearn for something big thats not a rollercoaster

:O I didn't know I wanted that until now!

I was recently thinking how cool a huge magic-themed roller coaster would be, a fantasy themed area with a wooden coaster and a ride like that could be amazing :D

Re: What Should Happen Now? (Smiler Incident 2015)

I don't believe for one minute that the ride will be removed. I can't see it being open until next season to allow extensive testing. Now, on to the theme. The Smiler - Get Corrected. A girl has just lost a leg on it. You categorically will not ever see this phrase used for the ride ever again. Had...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Oh no, poor girl :( my thoughts are with her and the others.

I also want to praise the bbc, reading that Leah's father just wants privacy for the family makes me feel ill that so many news sources were reporting someone had lost a leg before anyone close to the victims confirmed it. :/

Re: What is actually open during the closed season?

The small rides of mutiny bay including the sealife centre are open, I can't remember what other kids' rides were open as my little bro thought he was too old to go see them :p They have a lot more entertainment closer to Xmas and had an ice rink set up outside at one point, as well as Santa's grott...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I think if that actually happened the staff member was 'rude' as they were anxious because either they couldn't get in contact with people behind the ride, or they had told them but it didn't look like they were doing anything/could do anything. Maybe. That's what it sounds like to me anyway. Sorry ...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

The people who want it scrapped don't seem to be doing that much other than making comments though... earlier I read that there was a petition to get it scrapped, figured if it made an online newspaper it must have been fairly big, then read the story. It has/d 19 signatures. (http://www.mirror.co.u...

Re: What Should Happen Now? (Smiler Incident 2015)

This might be an unpopular opinion, but even though it's impractical (and sad :( ), I think they probably should change at least some of the theming, especially the stuff that's medical-related. I can see how the majority of its theming could be seen as morbid now, especially to those affected in th...

Re: The Future Of Th13teen

I love Th13teen! The only thing I think I'd change would be the electric orb in the queueing area near the station... not sure if it's just me but I feel it doesn't fit with the rest of the theming that well. Or is it part of the rollercoaster's story I've missed? :? :D

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've been wondering, due to the nature of the accident is it possible that when The Smiler reopens they will only have one car on the track at a time? Even though it won't look as spectacular, I feel like that might help restore visitor faith in the short term...
